:lol::lol::lol:
Why not right!!!?

So, Jake,
PROS-winner, can make the comback drives, very mobile, and tough, I do not think he missed any time as a starter with us, fun to watch scramble.

CONS-throws Ints with both hands, passes are kinda lame sometimes, well alot. Also is not good from the pocket. much better on the move or pa roll outs etc. Folds under pressure (sack pressure, not game on line pressure)

Orton
PROS-Pocket passer, smart with the ball, when he gets hot he does well, throws a harder?/better ball than jake, still improving and new to system

CONS- Statue like drew bledsoe, not as accurate on quick crossing patterns. Gets injured a fair amount, no drive/fire to put the team on his back and march downfield and shut the other team up.

In my mind they are about the same in terms of overall effectiveness. I liked that jake could run and or avoid sacks. But Kyle is the better pocket passer and our system needs that more than the run and shoot kinda style. As much as I like the qbs, I think despite the woes I would still take Kyle as our QB. I think he can get better and while he also likes the left handed INTs, his passes are a little more crisp and if he could just read the field better he would hit the open man- as there will always be someone open, but he has to find it at the precise time, which he was so so at last year.

Basically the same player. Only difference is Jake was horrible at protecting the ball and of course he quit on his team when it no longer went his way at the QB position. A lot of credit goes out to Orton in the way he has handled the offseason.

Jake was way more fun to watch than Orton though. While they had roughly the same level of effectiveness, Jake did it with more flare and excitement.

I definitely wouldn't say they are the same player though. Jake did all of his work on the run outside of the pocket and Orton is about as mobile as a statue.

Id rather not have both.

Absolutely. Plus, he did manage to lead the team to the AFCCG. McDump hasnt done that with Orton yet.

I liked this post other than the McDump part. Are we really not past those nicknames yet?

I think plummer would do better in this offense than orton. But when mcd yelled him he would probably get mountain man rage and throw blows.

I liked Plummer better than Orton. Orton is 'safer' with the ball, but while being so safe, he's also very boring. Nothing wrong with a QB to take some chances. Plummer was very effective outside the pocket. Orton, looks like a fawn on ice when outside the pocket. Plummer averaged 20 INTs in 5 of his 10 seasons. In the 5 seasons he didn't throw 20 INTs, 4 of them he started 11 or fewer games.

I liked how Jake handled the Pat Tilman situation. I like that he was willing to take the fines, no matter what the NFL threat.

I didn't like how he basically gave up after Cutler was drafted. Orton isn't as flashy, isn't exciting, but has done a really good job (so far) of handling the drafting of another QB.

Weird how some aren't screaming how Orton got screwed over when we drafted Tebow as they were screaming that Jake did.

Plummer wasn't very good as pocket passer so I don't think he would fit into this style of offense.

I'd take Plummer over Orton. The guy was a badass. The bootleg would look pretty behind a line of heavier guys like we have now.

CONS-throws Ints with both hands

hilarious. that alone makes plummer better than orton; for the entertainment value.

The "rap" on orton being a statue I think is a misnomer.

I watch the oline a lot being an ex ORG. I noticed that while the DE's were forcing him up into the pocket the DT/NT was pushing the oline back into the QB.

So statue maybe but I'd guess not so much when this beefier OL gets some time together.

Now he is not Jake in his movement skills he IMO is far from a statue.

if plummer had half of orton's brains and professionalism he actually could have been a decent quarterback. . . .

It's a shame because if you put Orton's brain in Plummer's head and made him Kyle Plummer, he'd be a Top 5 NFL QB.

if you could combine the best aspects of the two you'd get a QB with great feet, great mobility and athleticism, solid decision-making ability with a nice balance between ball security and playmaking, good on-field leadership and competitiveness, good work ethic. . . .

and a noodle arm and terrible grooming habits. . . .

Totally disagree. McDaniels' offense doesn't support much freelancing which was what Plummer did best.

I suspect if McD couldn't stomach Cutler, he certainly wouldn't tolerate Plummer.
