Ok, the Broncos have reinstated the ban they had at the start of last years training camp where they will not allow members of the media OR fans Tweet during public practices. If you are seen Tweeting, you will be asked to stop or escorted out.

Last year they lifted the ban after three days. What do you think of the ban?

What's the problem with tweeting during practice? Is distracting to the team or does McDaniels just not like it?

Whatever the BRONCOS want to do!!! I don't need to know by the minute updates in TC because sometimes they're exaggerated! But if one wants to do it I see nothing wrong!!

So I vote......doesn't matter!

Have they given a reason as to why they don't want it done? All the local tv, and sportswriters cover the practices, so there is information available.

after seeing some of the firestorms created by "TWEETS" i can clearly see why the broncos dont want it done.
a player gets overheard saying "gee i hope we dont suck again this year"....BANG on his way out:laugh:
injuries, reps etc... i don't see where it could serve a purpose.
just go watch the team practice.....silly rabbit's tweets are for kids;)

They are nice enough to have TC open to the public and free at their place. I am totally ok with any rules they have in place.

I think only bad can come from a fan tweeting-from the team's perspective. So why allow it?

Agreed! That's why I say some tweet's are exaggerated and not necessarily true!

Actually for fans cell phones are suppose to be off. That rule has been in place for the last 5 years.

I don't think this is limited to the Broncos, if I remember correctly, most teams have instituted a similar rule.

Just posted the following 2009 article in the other thread on this subject. The Broncos were not the only team to do it in 2009, and probably will not be the only team to do it this year.

Also, if the Broncos do the same this year, as they did last year, Coach McD, and a couple players talk with the press after practice.

I do not care. We always get the reports anyway. And as a person that will go to the TC- It is not like I am going to forget what I see.... I see the OM boys there with notebooks and such, maybe to write down the type of play or something??dunno, but to me this is like saying they ran out of sprite in the cafeteria..

What a stupid policy. You are going to either remember everything and twitter or report them as soon as practice is over, you are going to take notes, or whatever. What does this stop? Another example of the draconian arm of the NFL overstepping their I.Q.

You realize the fans could just wait until after practice to post their tweets. What exactly is banning them during practice supposed to stop? If it's something they want to say badly enough they will wait.

Don't care either way. I tweet, and follow people on twitter so it would be nice to have minute by minute updates, but I also understand why they'd ban it. Either way doesn't matter to me, as long as I get SOME updates throughout the day or after the practices are over, I'm fine with it.

Unless they have the Men in Black mind eraser thing this is a dumb rule. Like people have said once practice is over just start tweeting. Are they going to confrot everyone that has a phone out and ask to view your screen? Just don't allow people to view practice then if you don't want information getting out.

Does it really matter either way??
I don't look for any earth shattering news to come out of training camp.....at least nothing that couldn't be reported after practice....

Much ado about nothing. I dont need to know minute by minute how many times Tebow visits the water cooler. There is nothing THAT important that cant be said after practice is over.

I just did a search, and starting on either page 119 or 120, there were plenty of threads started in regards to last year's training camp - either from articles posted on denver post, etc., from Coach McD or players after practice, etc. from BF members who attended. Does not look like much from training camp last year was missed on BF.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. I think I'm just gonna start liking another team that allows tweeting at practice because this is just silly. :fight:

At least they will let me tweet during games I think.

i liked the tweets from last year. I get tired of the company line that this guy is great, this one is greater, and this one is greatest. The reporters seem to be looking for human interest stories and coaches/players are going to say only positives and the ever popular, "I am just trying to get better every day."

There is also A LOT of OTHER things a "fan" could be doing with that "phone" during the practice that could be disguised as tweeting.

I don't blame McDaniels or the Broncos for this. If cell phones weren't the mini camcorders that they are these days, I may not agree with them.

Afterall, Josh, and especially Ben, know the power of a recording device

They allow point and shoot (non removable lense) cameras I think it was PN that posted that in the other thread. Many modern point and shoot cameras now record hi-quality, sometimes HD, video. So, recording vidoe isn't the issue.

I think it's just smart business to block that media. Their are no drawbacks for the Broncos by banning tweets. A tweet like so-and-so hurt his leg I could hear it snap might not be the story the business wants to run with. Why offer the competition anything?

Sure, why not? This is silly to ban something like this...there are better things for the Broncos to be worried about.

The problem with that is that they are public practices, so even without the Tweeting, people are going to post "his leg snapped, you should have heard the pop".

If it's like last year, media can't do it from the field, but they can from their press area 30 yards away or something like that. So, they keep moving back and forth from the field to the media area and make their Tweets and blog posts.

I followed the Broncos for 15+ years without the internet or message boards, relying on AM radio after dark. Doesn't mean I want to go back to the dark ages... ;)

I went for like 15 years without that kind of access but like it was said before I really don't want to go backwards.

They'll do what they want to do, it's jmo.

Why do people tweet anyway? Seems like a waste of time.

1. It's a very useful tool for reporters who want to quickly break bits of news to their followers. This is useful because many people, like myself, follow many different news reporters that cover my favorite college and pro teams and it's just one easy place to get all the news I want at once. It's more convenient than ESPN because I can instantly get the news that I want instead of wading through the stuff on ESPN that I don't care about.

2. It's also a great tool for athletes that like to reach out to fans. For example, Chad Ochocinco quite frequently posts tweets to his fans saying where he is or where he is about to eat so that fans can join him. He also posts offers for free tickets to movies and bengals games and things like that to the first people to respond. Twitter is really the best way for him to reach his entire fanbase at once with such news.

3. People like Bill Simmons on ESPN.com who are known for writing humorous articles can make use of Twitter by posting funny one-liners as they watch games. This is nice for fans who like to read his material but don't like waiting long periods of time for new articles.

4. When Conan O'Brien had his buyout with NBC, he was not allowed to make any TV or radio appearances for several months. This left twitter as basically the only way he could still deliver material to his fans. On Twitter, he would post funny one-liners and also kept fans updated on his tour he did earlier this summer. This helped to keep him delivering his material since he wasn't allowed to on TV or radio.

5. During the Iran elections, Twitter was basically the only way anyone in Iran could get news of what was going on out to the rest of the world.

6. To put it quite simply, it's just the most convenient way to get updates from your favorite writers, entertainers, or anyone else you care to get news from or their thoughts on things. While it seems to be very popular for people who have never used it to bash it (not really sure why, maybe because it has a weird name?) it is a very useful tool for many different people, as evidenced by the tens of millions of people who use it.

Hope this helps to answer your question. :salute:
