Haven't seen this posted.

Per Franck Schwab:

RT @fs3142: Bad news for Broncos fans that won't be at camp: Team has reinstated a ban on media tweets from the field during practice

This ban applies to media and fans that attend the open practices during training camp.

What are they afraid of, anyway? How can they ban tweets?

Well, is the Mane still without press privileges?

Is anybody from BF going to be there?

Do they give a crap about their fans?

I'm all for it. Get rid of twitter, it's garbage lazy "reporting".

Actually, I hate Twitter altogether. It has become a spam field for those who
want to promote their own products/services.

But I hate to see this. Lazy reporting is better than no reporting. And we don't
seem to get anything much better than that from the mainstream press . . .

That's the crazy part. Whether the fans and media tweet out news, or take notes and post reports or tweet after the fact, what's the difference?

These are public practices, so clearly they are not 'protecting' anything during these practices.

As Schwab says, the fans are the big loser here. For the media, it makes their job easier, but for the fans, it's much less coverage.

I don't know about other fields, but with the Broncos beat reporters it's anything but lazy reporting. It is extra reporting. They provide real time coverage of things like Broncos pressers, and other events, and then ALSO write traditional articles and other coverage. I don't see how that qualifies as lazy reporting.

Injury, specific plays (esp. trick plays) and the like. Teams ask reporters to keep certain things quiet, but those same reporters tend to forget the arrangement when they can just pop off a one liner over the phone. It shouldn't be asking too much for people to hold off on the info until the practice is over. That's all it takes.

Instead of twittering in real time, the reporters can simply have an "observations from practice" article.

I hate twitter!

I used to love the word twitter when my GF used it to describe her self pleasuring technique. ;)

Now it is tainted....:tsk:

I don't follow twitter anyway so this will only bother me because my updates from it come from this forum. Which members post from them.

Might make taking notes during practice more demanding.

Personally never got the twitter stuff anyway.

Never did, probably will not.

Keep the updates section, and allow beat reporters to place updates altogether. Taking a moment to twitter something like, "Demaryious Thomas just beat Champ Bailey for a 25 yard TD", is lazy, vague, and uneducational. I know nothing about journalism and I could post something like that.

It's just personal preference, but stick with the updates about how the players/units/systems look throughout the flow of camps altogether. It gives us a better idea, and is going to be a more accurate assessment. I could care less what individual players do on specific plays, or the dumb sayings they put that they hear from the players or coaching staff.

"'That a kid! Way to make a play #25!! That's how we want play in this unit' were sayings that could be heard repeatedly by the DB's coach thursday during the Broncos mid morning training session..."

Just stupid, IMHO.

We've lived without twitter for how much of the Broncos' history?

Not a big deal at all to me.

1/2 the time I can't understand what's posted anyway.

This is an article from last year, and the Broncos were not the only ones to do it last year, and probably are not the only ones who will be doing it again this year.

http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/clay-dillow/culture-buffet/nfl-training-camps-ban-twitter-sidelines-and-stands

We reported yesterday that the National Football League is reviewing its social media policy with regards to players Tweeting from the sidelines of games. But now the ban on social media has expanded from the locker room to the press box and even the stands, as paranoid organizations don't want their training camp secrets becoming fodder for the Twittersphere.

At the Vanguard of the anti-social movement, the Miami Dolphins organization is prohibiting fans and media that attend the team's public training camp sessions from blogging, tweeting, or texting during team drills. At least six other teams are following their lead, fearing something like #TO's Ankle could become a trending topic on Twitter.

The Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, and New England Patriots have also cracked down on social media during team workouts. The Broncos have banned cell phones and laptops during workouts to stem tweeting and texting by fans and media. As a testament to the level of paranoia in the NFL, the Colts went as far as banning spiral bound reporter's notebooks briefly before later backpedaling on the rule.

I don't uinderstand... How do you enforce this? Is there some sort of jamming device or wireless shield they can use? Or do they have thugs watch everyone like hawks the whole time? WTF?

Like I posted in the poll, cell phones have got to be turned off for fans and that rule has been in place for at least 5 years that I can remember. Also for those of you who are thinking of going, no cameras with a detachable lens and you can't take movies with anything while you are there.

I'm just glad that they let us attend and that's it all free, well other than the time you take off of work.....:D

Top I will go as much as I can this year and I will TRY to write reports about what I see. Please remember that I don't know a lot of the terms, have never played Madden and dang I'm finding I'm having a hard time keeping track of multi things at once, but I will do my best.

So take notes as best you can.

Pass (short, long) from orton to Dt works for most of us.

Anything you can share will be much appreciated. :salute:

If they see you do it your escorted out.

The reporters will lose the most if they are caught.

They could jam the local cell towers.

But I doubt that they would do that.

The risk of being booted is enough.

FTW anyone that did this for a living well all the brponcos have to do is mponitor their tweets.

Slam dunk give away.

You did magnificently last year and I am positive you'll do even better this year. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your camp reports and appreciated every word. Thanks for doing this for us, pn.

Can the Maners get press passes again, or are they still banned for that?

I'm guessing that they won't ever see a press pass again, unless Mr. Bowlen's (or the organization's) memory is as bad as some think it is (I don't btw).

Yep, that's what I was afraid of. And they probably ruined it for the other boards, too.

Maybe MHR? They aren't officially a message board . . .

some were banned from press passes but I belive Taco remedied the issue in some fashion(more to come when i get full answers).....from what i can tell APA, montrose, kaylore and some others will still be there in force albeit probally not right in the press area.....all the press info you need though can be found from Andrew mason at max denver.com or right ON DB.com.......individual posters like the ones above have been doing the TC reports long enough to usually be consistent with what they write.....even without twitter we will still get plenty of info....dont think the ban is a big deal at all.......
