Tiger Woods has reached a record divorce settlement with Elin Nordegren, according to a report by the London Sun.

Woods will pay his former wife between $750 million and $833 million, the report says, which would be the biggest payout ever seen in a high-profile divorce. In return, Nordegren, 30, can never publicly speak about reported affairs he had while they were married.

According to the deal, which is expected to be finalized soon, Nordegren gets complete custody of their children (3-year old daughter Sam and 1-year old son Charlie), but Woods gets to share in making decisions in their life.

Woods also has to keep his children away from his girlfriends or any other unmarried women that Nordegren does not know.

The $750 million divorce settlement figure that Elin Nordegren is about to receive, as reported by several sources, may be wrong, says both Forbes Magazine and TMZ.com. TMZ, citing its own anonymous sources, claims that Elin will not get anything close to that; although the amount she will collect in the deal is still far greater than what she would have received by the terms of their prenup.

As with other reports, however, TMZ agrees that the divorce is signed and ready to go, just needing to be officially filed with the Orlando court.

We're told Elin will not get near the reported $750 million in the settlement. As one source put it, "Tiger isn't even worth that much."

The source added, however, "She'll do a lot better than she would have under the prenup."

In May, 2009, Forbes estimated Tiger's worth at $600 million.

My guess? Tiger was being embarrassed by the $750 million figure that was floating around, and directed his camp to leak a lower number. But what do I know? I also bet on Portugal to win the World Cup.

Kurt Badenhausen, author of the Sports Money blog at Forbes, does not agree with me.

The London Sun is reporting that Tiger Woods and wife Elin have reached a divorce settlement worth $750 million in exchange for her silence about her marriage to Woods (not sure what type of sordid stories she could possibly tell that we have not already heard from various Woods paramours). The settlement would imply that Woods is worth at least $1.5 billion. Is Tiger really worth that much? Not by our count.

The Sun reported that Elin's lawyers "did a good job" of digging up all of Tiger's assets, which is why the settlement is so high. But now there's doubt in the water, so we may never know for sure. Unless Tiger's SUV collides with another tree and the divorce papers fly out.

According to some news sites, she got more than the pre-nup states as her lawyers had him investigated and found more money than he was claiming he had.

Personally, I think it's never going to make up for the humiliation of woman after woman coming out with tales of sleeping with your so called faithful husband, and having the media lap it up and regurgitate it worldwide. Hell, Vanity Fair even did a photo shoot of some of those whores.

My guess? Elin's lawyer leaked the large figure as part of his way of generating new business, just like NFL player agents tend to overstate how much their client is being paid as a way to rep themselves for the next draft class. It's all about the guaranteed money.

Read that release again and you'll notice every condition is what matters to her, not him.

Plus, if a condition of the settlement is that she can't talk about his sex life, there is likely a certain amount that stays in escrow for an extended period of time (40 years?) or else she has no motivation not to blab once the money is paid. My guess is that her side will come out through other family sources so she can deny she said anything. It will probably put the kibosh on any tell-all book deal she may have been planning however.

But that's the rub. We guys are shallow and see just the beauty. We have absolutely no idea what she was like around the house or whether she porked up after having kids or whether her mother moved in and made home life a living hell, etc.

Not that Tiger needs any sympathy from any of us but there have been a lot of men who have been burned over the years by marrying the beautiful model/cheerleader type only to find out too late what a controlling psycho bitch from hell lurked beneath that luscious exterior.

Hell, Steve McNair had much better at home than what he was getting on the side and look what the side dish wound up doing to him.

Cheating is often a psychological thing about power and privilege and conquest, etc. For highly competitive people like professional athletes, the temptations must be immense.

So while I have far more sympathy for Elin and her kids than for Tiger, none of us really knows what issues led up to this and how much either side contributed to it.

Exactly. Not that we are condoning him cheating, by ANY means.... but just because she's beautiful doesn't mean she's perfect. Maybe she stopped putting out like she did before kids. Maybe she didn't like sex. Maybe she wasn't kinky enough after having children or marrying? Who knows.

But when you are a guy like Woods, and have gorgeous women (MULTIBLE)...that are so pretty that most men wouldn't even dare to approach... THROWING themselves at you... its hard to say what "we would do." We can try. We can say " I would never cheat"...but the truth is, we just don't know because we would never have that kind of circumstance.

The reality....Tiger never should have gotten married. He's obviously not ready, and his lifestyle doesn't fit that of a married guy. When you are on the road all the time, with bazzillions of dollars, and gorgeous women throwing themselves at you.... don't get married.
