Karl deserves it! What IS IT with multi-purpose players never gettin their due?? You got Ray Lewis, all he's ever done was play the run but that's because he's always had DLs absorbing blocks for him. Madman Meck EARNED each n every tackle against the run he ever made! No freebies! And you got LT who only ever was a pass-rush-specialist! Karl DID IT ALL! INCLUDING dropping back and covering WRs! Just like a single/main-purpose RB or WR will always get the nod over a multi-purpose RB or WR seems like Karl will always be left out. PUT HIM IN THE HALL ALREADY! wtf?? Yeah he was on 3 SB-losing teams but if it weren't for Madmen Meck, we wouldn't have MADE IT to them Bowls to BEGIN WITH!!

Man Northman, can you even IMAGINE if Madman Meck were around for those late90s teams?? First off....Denver would not have been a wild card team winning the Bowl in '97 but BEST-RECORD too. And in '98 not only would they of won their first 13 games, but ALL OF THEM! Yes, Grad should be in the Hall but SO SHOULD MECK!

At the rate that Denver gets any players in the HOF i would settle for anyone at this point.

Most of they pre elway players will never see the HOF as their stats were"inflated" by the local stat keepers. In the early 80's elias sports bureau was hired by the NFL to keep "real" numbers.

It is a shame that Randy and most of that group on D are not in the HOF.

Louis Wright's another one that should be in the Hall. Doubt he'll even get on the ballot. :tsk:

What?? Meck's numbers were CERTAINLY not inflated! And just like I said, he never HAD that luxury of DLs absorbing blocks for him. He did it all by himself! ****, he did EVERYTHING Dan Reeves ASKED him to do, and THEN SOME!

this thread needs more capitalization to really get the point across. . .

With all due respect to your guy's team, there are a lot of teams that have guys who should be in. You just got a borderline candidate in last year, albeit one that I thought should go into the HoF.

I'd be more pissed off about Shannon Sharpe not being in there than Meck.

And if it makes you feel any better, I have Ken Anderson.

Oh, Sharpe should CERTAINLY be in, but Meck FIRST! Hell, he's been retired longer anyways. And YES Ken Anderson SHOULD be in the Hall as well, and ALSO before Sharpe because of how long he's been retired. Hell, they're showing that '81 afcc game on NFL network, Fouts is in but NOT KEN??

I mean DO think about it.....Karl WAS noticibly a better LB than Lawrence and Ray Lewis and hell, even DICK BUTKUS! Serious man! Just because Karl didn't have that flamboyant personality. He simply let HIS PLAY do all the talking! No intriguing 'aura' about him. He did EVERYTHING Dan Reeves asked him to do! Them others WOULD NOT of been able to do it. Okay, maybe Grad but that's IT!

Meck was one of my favorite players....our defense with him and Rulon Jones(another underrated player) were alot of fun to watch.........Honestly......I don't think he should be in the HOF though......he was absolutely a very solid above average player who def. deserves an honorable mention.

Actually, Meck and Elway came into the league the same year. Of course Elway was the #1 pick of the Colts who were got in a trade. Meck was a 12th round pick due largely to a poor showing at the Combine. He had been up late the night before studying for a test in pursuit of a medical degree.

:D The Hof wouldn't want someone who puts such a high priority on his grades that it hurt his draft status, he'd be a bad influence on the younger kids :D

These were the following Broncos on this list; however, it seems every year there are Broncos at least on the nominee list, and a few have made it farther thru the process, but as we all know - MOST do not make it to the inductee list - who knows if it is East coast bias, Denver not being considered a major sports market, etc. ?????????? IS IT RIGHT - NO - IS THAT THE WAY IT WILL REMAIN - I HATE TO THINK SO - BUT I AM SURE IT WILL.

TIGHT ENDS - Shannon Sharpe
RUNNING BACKS - Terrell Davis
LINEBACKERS - Tom Jackson, Karl Mecklenburg
DEFENSIVE BACKS - Steve Atwater, Louis Wright

MasterShake, if you in Denver in the 80s and early90s man, you would of DEFINITELY had familiarity with 'Madman Meck'. Trust me man.

Heck, make that them ALSO winning the Bowl in '96 if he would of still been around! They wouldn't of choked to the Jags and you KNOW we matched perfectly against the Pats that year (Sharpe yellin, 'call out national guard' in route at New England). And we would of beat Packers in same way we would of also beat them a year later (pounding TD up their gut, tiring GB DL out). Man, we SO would of three-peated with Meck at the helm!

Go Broncos! :salute:

I appreciate your team loyalty and for sharing the long held belief that most Broncos fans, myself included, that Meck belong in the HoF. However, I think your loyalty may have effected your objectivity.

I was just giving you a hard time. Born and bred Denver fan since Karl's heyday, and knew him on a first name basis when I worked at a Pharmacy he went to in Littleton. One of the nicest guys I ever met and he definitely deserves to be in the Hall! :salute:

I love Meck but better than LT???

Put down the crack pipe dude!

LT changed the nature of the position, was a warrior nonpareil and absolutley dominated the opposition!

IMO, Randy Gradishar is the best linebacker to ever wear a Broncos' uniform and he should have been the first Bronco in the HoF. Meck was a good linebacker, but Gradishar was the best.

i'm sure broncos fans all love the snow goose (i used to dominate with him on the original techmo bowl when i was a kid  ), but saying that he's better than taylor, lewis AND butkus pretty much reeks of homerism. . .

IMO, LT was arguably the best defensive player of all time-- as far as i'm concerned, it's between him and reggie white. . .
