My Wife got a new Ipad for a present.

Anyone have any apps that they find useful.

looks like a real slick little machine

Four years ago I would have never been caught dead with an Apple product, but when my daughter got a MAc book pro when she went to college and I got to see all the power it had that started to turn my "PC mind" around.

Since then have gotten an IMAC for last Christmas, just gave my daughter a new IPOD something or other.

probably switch to Iphones when my current contract runs out.

might be time to buy Apple stock.

If you have any wiz bang apps send them to me.

Thanks to all the geeks

They have a Predominately Orange app which is pretty good for Broncos news. Things like News Addict are great, you pick all your favorite newspapers and they send you the top stories from each.

Heres a list of others: http://gizmodo.com/5507569/gizmodos-essential-ipad-apps

The best thing to do is go to the app store and search the TOP FREE and TOP PAID apps in different categories (games, news, music, movies, etc.). The top 25-50 in each are pretty neat, just read the reviews. Some of my favorite games for my iPhone are absolutely free (Such as Tap Defense) and some I paid for suck. Always keep in mind what you like doing on a computer and there is likely an app for it. My parents have an iPhone touch and have tons of casino games on it like 5 card draw, blackjack, video poker, etc.

If you plan on traveling with you iPad, get things like Around Me which shows you shops and restaurants in your general area.

I plan on getting an IPod Touch within the next few months, so I'm posting here to subscribe to the thread.

Can't use an Iphone with work due to security issues, so there's no sense in having an Iphone, but the Ipod touch as I understand it runs virtually all of the Iphone and Ipad apps. Am I right?

She already got mobile me and was playing on it all day yesterday looking at Aps downloaded several of them.

Daughter gets her Ipod touch today, that should be interesting.

Again later in the year I will be looking at Iphones when my Alltell contract runs out, I'm inclined to stay will my Blackberry though just getting used to all the toys with it. and it does most everything I need anyway.

Was looking at Iphones when we got these and now that she can do all of here work stuff on the Ipad we will probably dump her HP mini.

Let me know when Apple comes out with an app that boosts the wi-fi signal range, or when you don't have to hold your iPhone a certain way to make a phone call. Or the app that allows you to use flash.

Its a nice toy. But that's it.

Apple is a waste.

until 4 years ago I thought they were a waste also.

That was coming from a PC guy for the last 40 years or so..

but my daughters Mac Book Pro ran circles around any of the other Note books,
since then I'm a convert.

There are some iPad apps that won't work on iPhone like Netflix, but most are interchangeable.

I like PCs for gaming and other things, but I became a Mac convert due to the MacBook Pro as well. It handles video editing and my design programs fantastically.

I'll never pick one over the other. For usability and for what I do for a living it will always be a Mac. For proramming and games I prefer a PC.

Also aside from Flash compatibility which will be addressed soon, I never had a problem with my iPhone. Between streaming justintv to watch broncos games when I'm not at home to the GPS to track my hikes and runs, I love it. Droid is the only other phone that comes close and it's modeled after the iPhone.

For ppl in the graphics/creative community, Apple's are almost a must have. Beyond that, for casual computer users that mostly do web browsing and emailing, maybe some word processing and stuff, they're fine. There is a fair amount of browser incompatibility with Safari, but that's addressed by installing Firefox.

I wouldn't use one, because there are things I do which wouldn't work on an Apple (phone and PC), but I am surrounded by Iphone and now Ipad users at work. Non power users. We only have Apple PCs in the graphics department.

As to apps, there are so many. This weekend, my buddies were using Whelp or Yelp or something like that to find restaurants close to where we were. That's probably a good app for someone that travels.
