I just formed a league because I prefer something different than you would typical find in most FF league, especially the one I was in last year. It was a 12 team league and its staring line up was:
1 QB
3 WRs
2 RB
1 TE
1 WR/RB Flex
1 K
1 D

1) The pool of RBs worthy of putting into our starting lineups got depleted before we reached the mid-season. The pool of WRs got depleted shortly after mid-season. From those points forward, it was almost impossible to find a WR or RB that was capable of putting up decent FF numbers.

2) After the mid-season, I noticed that their was a lot of TEs available in FA that were better then any of the WRs or RBs, but I could only start 1 TE. If I could have used my Flex to start a 2nd TE, I may have been able to steal a play-off spot.

3) Every FF scoring system puts so much weight on the offense that defense plays a relatively minor role. I want a scoring system where your defense contributes as much as the offense.

The next post in this tread will contain the scoring system that I came up with to make a league that is more to my liking. First, here are some highlights...

This roster not only bears more resemblance to an actual NFL line up, but it also gives more opportunities for your defense to contribute. Some may not like the idea of managing an 18 player starting line up.

An alternative idea that I was thinking about was cutting back on the number of defensive player and adding a team defense with a way higher scoring scale then is typically used. I'm talking about something along the lines of 40 points for a shut out, 20 points for giving up 1-6 points and so on. The problem with this is that it puts way too much weight on 1 roster spot. If your D get torched, you've probably have lost already (unless you get lucky and your opponents D gets torched as well). I would be interested in any compromise ideas that potential members might have, but they must be agreed to at least 2 weeks before the draft.

Another thing that you will notice about my scoring system is that it is brutal on players that turn the ball over and Ks who miss kick that they are supposed to make. In fact, this may be the most brutal scoring system for Ks in the history of FF.

I thought it was set up so anyone could go straight there with the league ID and password to get in. Does anyone who is familiar with yahoo know what I need to do so someone can do this? In any case, I did go ahead and sent you an invite. Until then, if anyone who needs an invite to get in then let me know.

The draft date listed is Labor day weekend, not sure if that is scaring people off. Is that date correct? It actually works for me and is one of the few weekends I have free between now and the start of the season.

I went ahead and closed off membership because it appears that everybody who wants to join a FF league has all ready done so. Therefore, we will go with 8 teams in 2 divisions and a 4 team play-off during weeks 15 & 16.

As I was making these changes, I noticed for the 1st time that Yahoo provides an IR option. It doesn't explain what the rules are, but its safe to assume that if you choose to put someone on IR, you won't be allowed to move them to your bench or starting line-up for a minimum amount of time. So, I went ahead and edited the setting allowing for everyone to designate 5 players as IR. This has no effect on the number of players you are allowed to have on your active rosters.

I thought I finally put together a winning team, then I lost Vick. That said, I still handed Tned his first lost in spite of the fact that I forgot to check pregame injury reports. I end up starting a player that was already designated as out for the game and another player that was doubtful who didn't play either. So 2 0s before kick and losing my QB in the 1st quarter, but I still won the game.

They key to that league is the defenders. With so many, those points add up quick. Don't get me wrong, hitting on Arian Foster was nice too :D

if I keep leaving 30 pt scorers on the bench then its bound to happen! My problem is Bowe/Calvin/Nicks all seem to have a huge day, then an off day, its a toss up who to throw in there.
