Vegas oddsmakers think Broncos have too many "ifs"

Not even Tim Tebow can soothe this type of pain. The oddsmakers believe the San Francisco 49ers are better than the Broncos.

The Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book, the world's largest sports gaming casino, has posted the Broncos' over/under win total at 7 1/2.

Even with what appears to be an easier Broncos schedule, even with the draft selection of Tebow, even with Hilton sports book director Jay Kornegay an admitted Broncos fan, the wise guys have a pessimistic outlook on Denver's upcoming season.

"There's an 'if' at almost every position," Kornegay said. "Every time our guys got together, that word came up. It's a big, two-letter word in that Bronco camp."

Worse, it's difficult to figure out where those eight victories would come from if a fan bets the 'over.' Hilton has posted the lines on five Broncos games — at Jacksonville (-2 1/2); home against Indianapolis (-4 1/2); vs. 49ers (-2) in London; at San Diego (-9 1/2); and home vs. the Chargers (+3 1/2) — and Denver is the underdog in four.

Even the 49ers, who haven't posted a winning season in eight years, are favored.

"Teams going in opposite directions," Kornegay said.

Ouch!
