Kyle, meet Tim. Tim, say hello to Kyle.

Broncos veterans, including incumbent quarterback Kyle Orton, and rookies, including Tim Tebow, will be together for the first time today as Denver begins its first organized team activity at Dove Valley.

The three-day minicamp is voluntary, but coach Josh McDaniels said last week he expects good attendance. That includes the expected appearance of star outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil, a restricted free agent who has skipped the Broncos' offseason conditioning program and has yet to sign his tender or receive a new contract.

"This is always an exciting day, because it will be the first time everyone actually sits in the room together, and you know that some semblance of your 53-man roster will be made up of people in that room," McDaniels said. "We haven't been together in a while. The rookies will be back, their eyes will be wide and hopefully we get a good start on the season."

Today's session will start with a full-squad meeting, and the three-day passing camp will include multiple practices and meetings. The Broncos conducted a rookies-only minicamp two weeks ago, but for the veterans, these will be the first formal practices in preparation for the 2010 season.

There have been plenty of changes since all the Broncos were last together. Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan is gone, replaced by Don "Wink" Martindale, who was promoted from linebackers coach. Longtime assistant coaches Rick Dennison (offensive line) and Bobby Turner (running backs) are gone too.

Also gone are star wide receiver Brandon Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler — via trades — and two defensive starters, end Kenny Peterson and inside linebacker Andra Davis, who were released.

The Broncos have a new starting defensive line as well as two more quarterbacks: Brady Quinn and Tebow.

"This is just an opportunity for us to put our team out there and start teaching them some of the things we've learned about ourselves here over the last few months," McDaniels said. "We've made some corrections, made some changes in our scheme. We've obviously changed some players and added the rookies to it."

Among the players not expected to participate in the minicamp because of injuries are offensive tackle Ryan Clady, guard Russ Hochstein and outside linebacker Darrell Reid. They are recovering from knee injuries.
