I was watching NFL Total Access last night and at the end of the show when they do "4 Downs" (quick questions with quick answers to end the show) one of the questions asked was "Outside of the top 6 draftees which rookie will have the biggest impact this year.

Terrell Davis answered - Rashard Mendenhall.

Mike Lombardi answered - Eddie Royal. He said he was not only going to be a good slot receiver but he was going to provide the Broncos with a return game they haven't seen in years. A "game changer".

I was totally shocked but happy when I heard his answer.

Isn't Lombardi a guy with some sort of ties to the Broncos?

It's only a media guy's opinion, but I'll have to admit, it feels good to see it.

I tend to not put much faith in to what anyone says about draft picks just because they've never seen them on an NFL field with NFL talent. College football is a completely different type of football from the NFL. It is good to see the Broncos getting some love for a draft pick, but at the same time, I'll wait until the season starts to withhold judgement.

I will say that as much as I like McFadden, I hope he sucks just because he signed with the Raiders. I hope Fumblitis kicks his ass worse in the NFL than it did in college.

Well, if he's no longer with the corpse, that shows some sense to him . . .

Yes, but he sure likes to fire or screw over good coaches (see Madden,
Gruden, Shanahan).

If that goes for coaches, then I would infer it goes for GMs?

As I implied, that Lombardi is no longer there is a good sign for him.

I think you're right, Dream..............I'm pretty sure he came over in some sort of capacity for a short while..................

Yeah, here we go (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=2952007)

He was brought in to run the rule over our playing talent last July, and wasn't retained after he submitted his report.

Aren't most consultants not retained after they complete their job? That's why they call them consultants and not employees..
IMO this was a classic media spin to make Shanny seem like the despotic ruler who didn't like what he heard sdo he got rid of him..
Slightly bracing for Jr's. rebuttle..

The guy runs a 4.3, and you think that sounds like a bookie?

It fits the little guy like a glove. Fast Eddie Royal.
