Round 1/12 Ryan Clady, OTComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10367)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-6316Boise State GP 13 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10367) Scouting Report: A first-team All-WAC selection and a member of several All-America squads, Clady is one of the premier left tackles coming out of college football. Simply massive at 6-6 and about 320 pounds, Clady also brings a rare athleticism to the field for a guy his size. He has great feet and is very fluid in space, showing excellent quickness, balance, coordination, and instincts. He doesn't have as much experience as some other top tackle prospects in this draft but Clady's raw package of size, athleticism, and work ethic are probably second to none. He has the goods to be a starter in the NFL soon, especially as a pass blocker. Once he adds a little more power, bulk, and technique, he may be a true dominator on the left side.

Impact: Like so many other picks so far in this draft, this isn't filling the team's most pressing requirement but it's certainly grabbing the guy with the most pure talent. The Denver O-line had a solid season in 2008, and always does. But it has been a calling card of head coach Mike Shanahan to have a dominant group up front, so Clady is the guy. Denver may have wanted another player here, but no one can blame them for going with a player who will help out soon and has Pro Bowl potential. http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gifhttp://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gifhttp://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif

Round 2/42 Eddie Royal, WRComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?9374)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats5-10184Virginia Tech GP Rec Yds Avg TD 13 33 496 15 4 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?9374)http://pics.forecaster.ca/event/nfl/draft-2008/9374.gifScouting Report: Despite not piling up huge numbers, Royal was quietly very productive for the Hokies. He was a regular kick- and punt-returner, and while not a major part of the receiving game he was very dependable in it. His speed is elite, and when combined with his excellent hands Royal is a big-play threat whenever he touches the football. He needs to get a little bigger and stronger to put up with the power and pace of the NFL, but he has the jets and versatility to be a valuable special-teamer soon in the NFL. As a receiver he is underrated, and should continue to develop at the pro level.

Impact: An interesting depth selection here for Denver. With No.1 target Brandon Marshall no sure thing to repeat last year's breakout due to an injured arm, and with Javon Walker gone to Oakland, Royal could find himself a fairly regular recipient of QB Jay Cutler's deep passes. Not that he's exactly ready for a big role, but Royal has big-play ability and can certainly help out on special teams if he's not ready for a rotation spot in the receiver corps.

Round 4/108 Kory Lichtensteiger, OGComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?2801)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-3310Bowling Green GP 10 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?2801) Scouting Report: All-Mid-America for three years in a row, Lichtensteiger is a very experienced, high-effort player who brings versatility and a lot of skill to the line. Also tough as nails, Lichtensteiger has been known to play through injuries and he is the type who will simply do what it takes to win. While not an elite overall athlete, he can be a true mauler and he has developed a lot of solid technique in all his years of starting. He is the type who is underrated but will win out through perseverance, hard work, and intelligence. A potential gem.

Round 4/119 Jack Williams, CBComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10509)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats5-9180Kent State GP Tk Ast Sacks FR-FF TD Int 11 93 23 0-0 2-1 0 3-48-0 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10509) Scouting Report: A productive, savvy, and well-rounded cornerback, Williams capped an impressive career at Kent State by making the All-Mid-American squad. Very fluid and possessing an extra gear when it comes to closing speed, he is a true ball-hawk who makes great reads on passes and is a threat to pick them off. Williams is a little small and light for certain assignments (especially against big, physical receivers) but he doesn't back down and he will find ways to get the job done. A potential gem.

Round 5/139 Ryan Torain, RBComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?9308)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-1222Arizona State GP Rush Yds Avg TD 6 110 553 5 5 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?9308)http://pics.forecaster.ca/event/nfl/draft-2008/9308.gifScouting Report: A big, strong, bruising inside running back, Torain had a very productive junior campaign but was slowed down by injuries as a senior. He has a nice mix of power running ability and hands to catch passes, making him an ideal goal-line guy in the NFL. His straight-line style is probably best suited to certain schemes, and he needs to prove he can stay healthy at the next level. That said, he has a definite sleeper appeal and could be better than his college production suggests

Round 5/148 Carlton Powell, DTComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?7551)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-3300Virginia Tech GP Tk Ast Sacks FR-FF TD Int 14 39 28 3.5-22 0-1 0 0-0-0 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?7551)http://pics.forecaster.ca/event/nfl/draft-2008/7551.gifScouting Report: While not particularly flashy, Powell can simply be a wall in the middle of the defense. A highly productive and deceptively quick ball-tracker, he reads the action well, locks on to the ball-carrier, and brings him down. While that may make him seem a little one-dimensional, he really excels in this area. He isn't a big pocket-collapser/pass-rusher and he will struggle at times in coverage, but Powell takes a back seat to no-one in stopping the run. He also has the frame NFL teams look for on the D-line, so Powell is a definite sleeper

Round 6/183 Spencer Larsen, LBComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10399)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-2243Arizona GP Tk Ast Sacks FR-FF TD Int 12 131 44 4-35 4-3 0 1-3-0 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10399) Scouting Report: All-Pac-Ten two years running, Larsen is an aggressive, gutsy, high-motor tackler and leader on the field. A mature prospect who brings uncommon focus to the field with him, Larsen is a tackling machine who will not be out-worked. While he lacks elite speed or athleticism, Larsen has good size and is always around the action thanks to smart play-reading skills and a tenacious nature. While he doesn't project as a perfect fit for any scheme, he can contribute right away on special teams and may eventually get into a linebacker rotation in the NFL.

Round 7/220 Josh Barrett, SComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10556)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-2223Arizona State GP Tk Ast Sacks FR-FF TD Int 11 38 13 1-9 1-0 0 1-0-0 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10556)http://pics.forecaster.ca/event/nfl/draft-2008/10556.gifScouting Report: A phenomenal physical specimen, Barrett arguably has the best speed-size combo in the safety class. If he had declared for the draft a year ago his stock would probably have been much higher, but nagging injuries during his final college campaign and some serious inconsistency really hurt his production. He has the whole package: size, physicality, fluidity, good awareness, quickness, and closing speed. He just needs to show that his senior season was a blip and that he

Round 7/227 Peyton Hillis, FBComplete Bio Page (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10306)HTWTCollege 2007 Stats6-1240Arkansas GP Rush Yds Avg TD 13 62 347 5.6 2 http://pics.forecaster.ca/std/gif.gif (http://www.forecaster.ca/denverpost/football/player.cgi?10306)http://pics.forecaster.ca/event/nfl/draft-2008/10306.gifScouting Report: Seen by many as the top fullback in the draft, Hillis is coming off s solid senior season that showcased his well-rounded skill-set. Very speedy for his size and displaying superb versatility, Hillis has the tools to become a starting fullback (or H-back) in the NFL. He can run, catch, and also excel on special teams as a punt returner but simply needs to show he can put up with the physical pounding demanded

Thanks Warhorse....good post

The common theme in those assessments seems to be good work ethics and highly productive when healthy. I like it.
