BTW, if Dorsey falls to the Cheevies at 5, I KNOW they are going one direction: Oline.

Sooooo...............I think we should trade up and get Dorsey.

Number one player in the draft, a beast for years to come.

We would have to. I just cant see us havin to face him twice a year.

Two months ago, King Carl said Dorsey was No. 1 on the board...

But, he'll screw it up...and draft Clady or Albert...

(Please note that I say that the Chiefs drafting Clady at No. 5 is a mistake, whereas the Broncos drafting Clady at No. 12 is good...this is because of who else is on the board...:D)

I was watching the ESPNnews coverage of the AFC West that I taped from earlier and they were talking about SD taking a RB with their one first day pick. I know there logic was that they don't have many holes, but it hardly seems like you would take a RB when you have LT and only one pick in the first 4 or 5 rounds.

Talking about Clady now on NFL Network.

On Clady, they said he was a great physical talent, but made his share of mental mistakes. They said it was likely related to not starting enough and entering college as a defensive player that was switched to offense.

The $16 million, $17 million or $18 million (depending on the contract) question that nobody could answer truthfully Thursday at the annual NFL draft luncheon: Which one of you top prospects wants to be a Raider?

Sadly for the once-proud Oakland Raiders, the answer is none of the five yet-to-be signed players in attendance (newly minted Dolphins offensive tackle Jake Long is the exception) at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers really wants to join the franchise.

Or as one agent put: “Sure, somebody is going to want to go fourth overall because of the money, but they’re not going to like the prospects once they get there.”

There is no greater indictment of a team than the stricken look that comes upon a player’s face when he realizes he must go to the Raiders, the NFL’s wasteland. Sure, plenty of players, such as safety Gibril Wilson, cornerback DeAngelo Hall, defensive tackle Tommy Kelly and running back Justin Fargas, lined up to take the money. That’s why when the Raiders pick at No. 4 overall on Saturday, some player will manage a smile for the cameras. And if he smiles, he should get an Oscar with his Raiders jersey.

Draftees are probably thinking through scenarios where they can avoid becoming Raiders. Take running back Darren McFadden, who has drawn a lot of interest from the Raiders and the New York Jets, who pick No. 6 overall. The thinking in that camp is if LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey goes No. 2 overall to St. Louis, Atlanta at No. 3 might trade with the Jets at No. 6, giving New York a clear path to him.

Over where Ohio State defensive tackle Vernon Gholston was sitting, his camp was hoping that either he or Virginia defensive end Chris Long would go No. 2 to the Rams. Then Dorsey would go No. 3, McFadden No. 4 and Gholston would end up at No. 5 (to Kansas City) or at No. 6 to the Jets.

Even Long, the son of Hall of Fame Raiders defensive lineman Howie Long, really has no desire to follow in his father’s footsteps. Part of that is the automatic pressure that goes with being a Raider Legacy (boy, is that an odd term these days), but much of it is because even his father knows that the Raiders just aren’t run well anymore.

Or as one person close to Chris Long said mockingly in recent days: “There’s no way you can tell what the Raiders are going to do because not even (owner) Al (Davis) knows what he’s doing.”

Ouch.

About the only player unconcerned with the fate of being No. 4 is Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan. He was asked to give a mock draft for the top six picks. When he got to No. 4 he said with comfort, “You know they’re not taking me,” an obvious reference to the fact that Oakland took quarterback JaMarcus Russell at No. 1 overall last year.

Ryan has the most uncertain Saturday of the lot. There’s talk that he could end up with Atlanta, Kansas City or Baltimore at No. 8. When asked how he’d feel if he took an Aaron Rodgers- or Brady Quinn-type fall in the draft, Ryan took the moment in stride, giving a very professional response.

“Five years ago, if you told me I’ll be a first-round pick, I’d take it and be happy. If you told me a year ago I’ll be a first-round pick, I’ll take it. Anywhere in the first round would be great,” he said. “Hopefully, I’m not sitting too long, but I’ll be excited with whoever takes me. It’s going to be exciting, no question.”

Whoever goes No. 4 to Oakland, it’s hard to believe they’ll feel the same way.

Sleeper pick:

Thaddeus Coleman, OT, Mississippi Valley State

14. Thaddeus Coleman, Mississippi Valley State, 6-7, 308, Tackle

Coleman came into his senior year underappreciated, but could be one of the sleeper picks of the 2008 NFL draft. His stock has risen significantly since his pro day and he could be one of the top non-combine invitees to be selected. Though still extremely unpolished as a player, Coleman has the size, particularly his height and long arms, to be an appealing pick. Turned in a strong week at the Texas vs. The Nation all-star game, showing skill as both as a run and pass blocker. Should thrive with NFL coaching. Didn't have a position coach in college, but was still the dominant offensive lineman in the SWAC. His father, Michael Coleman, played with the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints. Very personable and should be a great addition to any NFL locker room. Is definitely a project, but has the ability to play the important left tackle position in the NFL and could prove to be a great investment in the middle-to-late rounds.

The Broncos are growing more interested in Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart with their first-round pick, an NFL source said just before the first round began.

The source said Denver and the Carolina Panthers are among the few teams who favor Stewart, who is coming off toe surgery, over Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall.

The Panthers, with the No. 13 pick, may take Stewart if the Broncos pass on him a pick earlier, the source said.

Stewart, 5-feet-10 and 235 pounds, rushed for 1,469 yards and 10 touchdowns last fall as a junior for the Ducks.

Negatives: Has very good field vision, but needs to show more patience waiting for his blocks to develop (will out-run his protection, at times)...Strong open-field runner, but needs to develop better ball security and protect the ball closer to his body, as fumble issues posed a big problem in 2007 (15 fumbles, five turnovers, see Chattanooga, Troy, Florida International and Louisiana State games)...Has good inside running skills, but must improve his lower-body strength...Will sometimes get upright in his stance, allowing defenders to clog the rush lanes (see 2007 Chattanooga, Auburn, Mississippi State and Louisiana State games)...Protects the ball well in traffic, but most of his turnovers come on improper ball distribution in the open...Also has a high amount of fumbles fielding the kickoff, as he tends to run before securing the ball...Was hurt in an off-field fight in July, 2006, undergoing surgery to repair a left toe fracture...Has natural hands as a receiver, but needs to improve extending for the pass away from his frame...Sometimes drifts in his routes and needs to show better cutting ability on his breaks.

Negatives: Has a thick frame and while not sloppy, he does lack solid muscle tone, but does compensate with outstanding initial quickness and lower body strength...While he explodes off the snap, he has just marginal speed to make plays in long pursuit (best when shooting the inside gaps rather than try to make plays on the outside)...Has a strong lower body, but he needs to improve his base (gets narrow in his stance), as blockers have had success getting underneath his pads to lock on and wash him out of the play (see 2007 Tulane, Kentucky and Tennessee, and 2006 Tulane and Mississippi State games)...Must do a better job of planting his foot and anchoring vs. double teams (has good hand placement, but needs to counter better at times)...Best when taking angles or shooting gaps (gets too caught up in the battle when taking on isolated blockers at the point of attack)...Lack of ideal size might limit him to one-gap schemes...Generates good penetration, but for some reason, he fails to seal the deal on the quarterback (has only seven pressures in 51 games)...Does not display an array of pass rush moves, but shows good burst on the bull rush...Good complimentary type, but by declining postseason all-star invites it leaves one to wonder if he can dominate at the next level or is a player who was covered up by the LSU gang-tackling scheme (Tiger defensive linemen in the past have not lived up to their college billing in the NFL).

If he has ten more good drafts, drafts that make us Super Bowl Champions, I will call him a legend.

Denver can easily trad down a few spots with the way the draft is going if they want an OT/RB in the 1st.

We are getting close to our pick.

It's exciting.

I told you the Bungholes would take Keith Rivers.

Yeah...and I said it 3 posts before you did...and Nick 3 posts before me.

With the 12th pick the Denver Broncos draft Jerod Mayo of Tennessee.

I wouldn't go past 15. Hopefully we could grab a 3rd or 2nd rd. pick

I want to trade down with Detroit...we'd probably get a 4th and still get one of the 3 O-Lineman

Well if they don't dig up another pothead from the Gators, it is looking like either Mendenhall, Clady, or Albert.
