The departure of Brandon Marshall leaves the Broncos with a significant hole at wide receiver, but it also gives Eddie Royal an opportunity to get back on track after a poor performance last season. Royal, who nearly disappeared in his sophomore campaign, will be one of the targets expected to help make up for the production Marshall once provided. Royal had an impressive rookie year in 2008, but he made just 37 catches for 345 yards and no touchdowns in '09, and head coach Josh McDaniels said — well before Marshall was dealt — he wanted to get Royal more involved in 2010. Some observers say Royal is better off playing in the slot, where he can use his short-area burst to maneuver around defenders, but McDaniels has yet to describe the role he envisions for him in detail. Prior to last season, some expected Royal to become Denver's version of the Patriots' Wes Welker.

If this was already posted, I didn't see it. I believe Royal had at least 2 plays of over 90 yards his rookie season, hopefully McD can show his Offensive 'genius' and get Royal more involved.

I think it really depends if we can get Eddie off of the STs unit. I think part of the reason for his poor production was the STs play (being our only real returner).

I really hope Eddie can get back into this offense this year. He was extremely dangerous his rookie year and I firmly believe he can be our Desean Jackson if used correctly.

Good point. Special teams did seem to tire him out a lot last season.

But this can't be - he's next on the chopping block:

I hope Eddie can get back to where he was 2 years ago. But a lot also depends on Orton not throwing to just one receiver either. Hopefully Both can find success this year.

Well, we need at least another productive season out of him to maximize his trade value.:D
