Marshall gets $24 million guaranteed
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 14, 2010 11:34 AM ET
Brandon Marshall wanted $10-million-per-year, and he got it.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Marshall will get $50 million over the next five years as part of a four-year, $47 million extension tacked on to his scheduled $2.5 million salary in 2010.
The deal includes $24 million in guaranteed money, and close to $29 million in the first three years of the contract. It's not backloaded, although we're looking forward to seeing more details to learn if there are any natural outs for Miami if things don't go well.
This deal essentially matches Larry Fitzgerald's last contract and arguably makes Marshall the league's highest paid receiver, depending on you count the money.

Good for him. He put up the numbers and deserved to get paid......But getting paid as much or more than fitz.......Thats too much, he is not worth that much. But whatever, good for him. He loves Miami and will be very happy to be there.

I wish him well. Thought he would remain with us this year and leave next year.
Good move for all involved. Hope now that he has the money he wanted, he'll become are model citizen, treat his new bride with respect, and remain a solid force on the football field.
Good luck Brandon Marshall!

I doubt that is money that is well-spent...I feel the same way about Marshall, as I did about Cutler.
I rooted for them as broncos.............but I hope they fail now....

Players of late always get more money than those paid in the past. Marshall could very well be considred the best WR in the NFL... whether you agree with it or not, it absolutely, 100% has legit reasoning to believe it.
Football is a business. Players put butts in the seats and money in the pockets. Players, GREAT players, are going to get paid. Marshall is a great player.

his talent may be worth ten mil a year, but as a complete package he should lose 3 mil a year for being such a head case:lol:

Regardless of pro/anti BM, that certainly is big $$$...and now comes with a mandatory ROI.
...100+ catch, 1000+ yd, and 8-12 TD a year production annually AND the type of difference that allows your team to win and be successful in the postseason.

good for him, just hope they (MIA) got some behavior provisions built into it.
If the guy could cause all this crap he did on from $400K to $2million just think of all the issues he will have on South Beach and party town USA.
Talk about frying pan into the fire for an immature kid.
Over under on his next arrest is 15 SEP.
