2 Broncos in the top 10. Not bad.

You'd think Tom Nalen would have made the Top 50.

Karl Mecklenberg, 12th Round. Should be in the HOF. Should be higher than #30 on this list too.

You've got to remember that a lot of these kids don't remember there being twelve rounds ;)

Absolutely top drawer player, and having met him once, a decent chap as well

I'll assume Rod Smith is not on the list becaue he was not technically drafted?

Great post! From the stand point that sleepers are out there in every draft. Point is, are Teams organzied and structured with their scouting systems and player evaluations to spot those sleepers. Or are the majority of teams smitten and blinded by the top 50 can't miss first and second round picks on day one of the draft.

No, there were a couple of undrafted guys on there I believe. I guess he just didn't consider Rod a top 50 steal, which is ridiculous at best.

Presumably; I'm still shocked Night Train Layne was undrafted, but he was, and if undrafted players were being considered I have to think he's a top ten "draft" steal (how many rookies led the League in interceptions for a season? One.... )

The biggest thing I got out of the list was that Bud Adams is an even bigger moron than I thought. I mean, who trades away guys like Ken Houston, Stever Largent and Charlie Joiner before they even take the field? Houston is probably the most egregious blunder; as a Prairie View A&M alumnus his ability should've been VERY apparent to the AFL team less than a hundred miles distant.... HTF the Oilers beat San Diego for the first two AFL titles with Bud in charge I have no idea....

According to their commentary every player in their top 50 was drafted (though I'm still not sure what makes Trent Green a "top 50 steal" even after reading the commentary on what a great benchwarmer he is.... ) Closest to "undrafted" in the list would probably be either Mecklenburg or Tyrone Braxton, whom the list says was the penultimate pick of his draft class.

Leon Lett at #45. This is interesting because the two things I remember when I hear his name is that snow game against the Dolphins after the missed FG and SB XXVII when he could have scored a TD but Don Beebe knocked it loose just before he crossed the goaline because he slowed down and was trying to impersonate Michael Irvin.

Not bad at all....I liked this list, and they gave the Broncos a pretty good amount of respect.

And despite our terrible drafting record, we only have one in the top 50 busts. (Maurice Clarett at #47)

Wow, how can Nash and Middlebroke not be on that list.

I have a hard time labeling someone a bust b/c he got injured. Thats uncontrollable and just real bad luck to the team he was drafted by.

Middlebust and Nash...hands down. Grade A busts.

Understandable and fair. And i would agree if everyone did'nt know Green had injury problems in college. He was considered a reach at #15 and nevered lived up to it when he was healthy.

Micheal Westbrook is on that list, the same could be said for him.

I somewhat agree, but when Green was finally healthy he had been through 10 surgeries on the same knee/ankle. Hard to expect anything after that.

Micheal Westbrook I don't know much about his injuries. All I remember from his was when Westbrook sucker punched Stephen Davis to the ground, then hopped on top and continued flailing away until Davis' face was bloody. Wished him the worst of luck after that.

If they didn't have Ted Gregory on that list, then I have to wonder about it. You're talking about a 1st round pick that was so bad they traded him for another teams bust before the season ever got going. Being a first round pick, he was a lot bigger bust than Clarett.

Kinda made you wonder if Davis did'nt bring it on himself. Usely guys are quick to break stuff like that up.

From my understanding Davis was hazing the rookie. Regardless, nothing can be said will equate to those type of actions. Last I heard he was fighting in a cage with some wrestling gig. Not so surprised.

Yes, I was thinking that the busts were more interesting than the steals.

And those two, Skinny, were far worse busts than many on the list (not
that I want the Broncos to have that dubious distinction). But if we think
the Broncos have had a hard time in the draft, take a look at all the Lions'
busts.

Westbrook was amazing during the short time he played and was healthy. He could have been special. But now he's just a loser doing martial arts in Phoenix!!! :flame:

I'm kidding...
