Redskins add ex-Steelers RB Parker
The Washington Redskins have reached agreement with free agent running back Willie Parker on a one-year deal with a maximum value of $3.1 million.

Parker has been told there will be an open competition for the Redskins' starting job.
The Redskins signed Larry Johnson last month, and Clinton Portis will be returning after concussion symptoms knocked him out of the last eight games of 2009.
Parker, a Pro Bowler in 2006 and 2007, averaged 1,337 yards in three seasons for the Steelers from 2005 to 2007.
He became Pittsburgh's backup last season in his fifth full year as the Steelers turned to Rashard Mendenhall as their featured running back.
Parker finished 2009 with 389 yards on 98 carries.
Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter was used in this report.

interesting signing. No doubt Shanahan is going to have RBs to choose from during TCs. No one young, but several veteran RBs that could carry the rock, giving each other rests. Not to mention vets that are used to picking up blocks.

No matter how many carries he has, Portis will still find a way to be injured most of the year...
...we SO got the better end of that trade.

doesn't matter how many washed up running backs he collects-- their running game is still going to suck behind that offensive line. . . .

no, it's worse than ours-- look at last year's numbers. . . they're worse across the board. . . rush yards, yards per carry, rushing TDs, sacks allowed. . . everything. . . and they're probably going to lose their left tackle and best player to injury retirement. . .

Samuels has already retired. But I'm betting Shanahan does a better job with the offense than the previous regime. I know they are bad...very bad.... but he'll have the 4th pick to fix the LT and has signed at least one FA OLman.
I'm sure I'm exaggerating how much will be fixed, or if they will have a better run attack than we do....but I didn't see anything from our run attack last year, that makes me feel confident this season.

Cheer up Rav! If no one on the roster steps up and carries the mail this season, I'll break out my cleats and give them the TD treatment.

Colorado Springs Gazette beat writer Frank Schwab, the area’s All Pro voter, tracked down detailed stats for the league’s cornerbacks and discovered that Bailey was the only one not to allow a touchdown this season, despite spending much of the season shadowing the opponent’s top receiver (like San Diego’s Vincent Jackson, Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne and Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson). According to Stats, Ic., Bailey allowed 47 catches for a total of 624 yards. That’s more than Jets star Darrelle Revis allowed (40 for 439 yards) but that Bailey didn’t allow even a single touchdown is impressive.
