Im not sure what hes all about, but he was money for the longest. Maybe hes been working out like crazy trying to get another chance on an NFL roster.

Id rather have a guy who has kicked in pressure situations than a rookie all wide eyed and shaky legged.

We should try him out, it would hurt.

Stupid kicker.:tsk:

no.

i'd feel much better with coutu/mehlhaff than a has-been who broke down and was driven out of the league.

We would probably be better off pursuing a kicker in the draft.

Isn't Rich working in the front office? Is Jim Turner still available?

We don't need the idiot kicker. He is sort of like the Ryan Leaf of kickers.

Really? Surprising to me.

Not that I like him all that much or dig signing him, I just dont see what it would hurt since Im sure we'll draft another dumb kicker, and whoever gets beat out......gets beat out.

Camp comp, and Id hate to draft someone who wasnt going to be on our roster at the beginning of September.

Hopefully we don't draft an idiot kicker that's going to go and get himself liquored up.

Too high.

It was a 2nd rounder wasn't it.... if so yeah, that is way too high. Only Al Davis is that stupid to give a 1st or 2nd rounder for a kicker.

We should take a look at a couple of guys in the CFL

Nick Setta
45-55 53 yard long FG
8/10 from 40-49
and to top it off 44.0 yards per punt (not great but decent)

On the other side of the coin
Damon Duval
47.0 Yards per punt
32-46 51 yard long FG

Might as well give him a tryout, he's just hanging out in Denver as a news anchor.

I see what your saying WAR.. Whats the harm in bringing him in for competition? we can still draft a kicker. If he beats out the new guy, why wouldn't we want him?

No, but he was caught missing a few crucial FG's his final year in Dallas.

Vanderjact isnt exactly the personality you want in your kicker. We let that guy go to Atlanta. But I just dont see the problem with tryin him out. Hes not 50 yrs old afterall.

But at the same time, we don't want to turn into the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to free agent K John Carney, the Broncos are reportedly considering bringing in Paul Edinger for a visit.

The last we heard of Edinger he was getting cut by an Arena League team. Either veteran would compete with Matt Prater, the only placekicker currently on Denver's roster. With few even mediocre kickers available in the draft, the Broncos really should've been more open to paying Jason Elam.

The Rams have given K Justin Medlock permission to seek a trade.

No one is going to give up anything for Medlock, who will be cut this summer at the latest. He's buried behind Josh Brown, the NFL's highest paid kicker.

Well, that's a good point too..............I just saluted both sides of that arguement.............Now, maybe it's better we go with a yonger kicker I'm thinking..............We need good team chemistry.

I'd like to see Medlock or Edinger signed. The Rams own the rights to Medlock who is firmly embedded behind Jeff Wilkins on the depth chart. Denver is talking trade but they refuse to surrender any draft picks. Medlock was given 1 game in Kansas City before he was ostracized by Herm Edwards and released (after they released Lawrence Tynes and spent a draft pick on Medlock). Medlock is young and he's got a great track record save 1 game in KC. Besides, we've got to get some style points for replacing the greatest kicker in Broncos history with the greatest left-footed, black kicker in NFL history!

Edinger is 30. I thought he had a great leg; I'm not sure why he's been out of the league. He was cut by an AFL team. Something isn't right; maybe he has character issues? Maybe he's just lost his touch. In any case, he's inexpensive and could end up being a great find.

I still haven't given up on Prater. He's already arguably the best kickoff specialist in the NFL and hasn't really had a great shot at a starting kicker job. Given time to develop, I think he could be our guy for years to come.

A big "no" on Vanderjagt; he's been a cancer in every locker room he's been in . That's not worth it.

Medlock is behind Josh Brown. Jeff Wilkins alrady said he will retire from football, so the Rams picked up Josh Brown and gave him a huge contract for a kicker.

Clay Rush hit a 64 yarder in the arena league, that's right, the league with the skinny goal posts that are twice as high off the ground. I have no idea how he isn't in the NFL.

Regardless of the veterans out there I would like to draft a kicker that we can have for years to come. However, having a vet to help the kid along isn't such a bad idea.

Teams don't usually keep two kickers on the roster, there is usually only one. We either have a vet or we have a young guy.

That was like 3 years ago. Look at his other stats, expecially this year. I don't know how they compare to other kicker's stats in the AFL, and I know they have the narrow goal posts, but these numbers arent very good.

.......FGM FGA XPM XPA

2006 7 12 101 108
2007 4 8 24 29
2007 2 8 50 64
2008 2 6 18 23

I only watch AFL if there is nothing else on, so I can't say I have seen him kick. And if I have, I dont remember. But it seems an NFL caliber kicker would make better than 33% of feild goals and 78% of PATs in the AFL.
