Andersen is out and introducing your starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns ... Seneca Wallace (http://www.nfl.com/players/senecawallace/profile?id=WAL501121)?

Don't count it out."He's accurate, he's decisive, he's got a strong arm and drives defenses crazy because he's very mobile," a league source said of Wallace.

The perennial Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback came to the Browns in a trade (http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/03/report_browns_deal_for_seattle.html)Monday night for an undisclosed 2011 draft pick believed to be in the middle rounds. But nobody in the NFL probably values Wallace more than Browns President Mike Holmgren.

Most Browns fans have never seen Wallace play because he has sat behind Matt Hasselbeck in far-flung Seattle for seven years. Hasselbeck's frequent injuries put Wallace on the field for spot duty. Holmgren would take advantage of Wallace's athletic ability and play him at receiver at times.

This move tells you that the Browns will run Holmgren's offense immediately. Holmgren's top aide, Gil Haskell, has been meeting regularly with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to teach him the basics.

Holmgren had to acquire a quarterback with intimate knowledge of the system. A trade for Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb is highly improbable because the Eagles would want the Browns' No. 1 pick. Wallace, 29, will serve as a transition quarterback until Holmgren acquires a young quarterback of the future.

My thoughts exactly... And I'm pretty sure he fits the physical mold of a McD QB at 6'6".

Look for the Arizona Cardinals to be one of the major players to bid for, and eventually land, former Browns QB Derek Anderson.

I agree, much better backup than Simms.

He could push Orton for the starting Job if he learned the offense. :flame:

Heres an interesting article about Anderson. Guess he wasn't real thrilled with the Browns faithful.

Fired from his job on Tuesday, quarterback Derek Anderson dropped a bomb (http://www.news-herald.com/articles/2010/03/09/sports/nh2211391.txt) on the Cleveland Browns' fans on his way out the door.

In an angry e-mail to the News-Herald after his contract was terminated, Anderson ripped the Browns' faithful.

"The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner," Anderson wrote.. "I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and (we)roll them."

The Browns have traded for quarterback Seneca Wallace and are expected to acquire another quarterback.

Brady Quinn's status appears to be tenuous, too.

"I never heard from anyone until today," Anderson wrote. "Nobody ever tried to reach out to me, which is fine."

Anderson had one Pro Bowl season in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdowns with 19 interceptions, but he was always prone to interceptions and isn't as accurate and mobile as Holmgren prefers.

The link in the article above has some interesting comments. Here is part of one of them:

The Browns fans that cheered his injury in my opinion are not true Browns fans, rather they are fair weather fans. REAL BROWNS FANS stick with the team win or lose and DO NOT CHEER when one of our players gets hurt...unless that player is Ray Lewis who should be in jail anyway.

I would have much rather seen Brady go bye bye. He's nothing more than an over rated prima donna and I'd love nothing more than to see him gone.

Hopefully Holmgren will get us a QB that can bring us some wins and dare I say.... a Championship.

D.A. you still have at least 1 true fan in Cleveland. "

http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/12/holmgren-quinns-future-depends-on-browns-moves/

It appears Brady Quinn is nothing more than the Browns’ last resort at quarterback.

At least that’s how general manager Mike Holmgren made it seem to the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Friday.

While Holmgren told the Plain Dealer that trade talk for Quinn is “a little premature,” he indicated that the former first-round draft pick’s future in Cleveland depends on whether or not the Browns acquire another QB.

“It all depends on what else we can do,” Holmgren said Friday. “We are continuing to look for and evaluate quarterbacks.”

The Browns already have acquired one QB this offseason, trading for Seahawks backup Seneca Wallace. The next day, they terminated Derek Anderson’s contract.

A similar fate could be in store for Quinn if, say, the Browns acquire Jake Delhomme, which it seems Holmgren hopes to do. Delhomme visited Cleveland on Friday, but he’s scheduled to visit New Orleans as well.

“Delhomme is an ongoing discussion … he still is on radar,” Holmgren told the Plain Dealer. “But I did tell this to Jake: While you’re debating what you want to do, I’ve got to keep going. We’re not just sitting on our hands waiting for something to happen. I don’t want to be left standing at the altar.”

Filed to ESPN: Cleveland landed its second QB of the week, this time Jake Delhomme. Browns and Delhomme agree to a two-year deal.

I would assume this means Quinn is gone from Cleveland

I'm not so sure that Delhomme is any better than Anderson......
