View Full Version : Why does it seem that most teams are just maintaining the status quo this year?

I know that I haven't been on the edge of my seat reading every article about every possible FA transaction since the signing period began. Mainly because about 4 out of 5 threads dealing with FA are based on wild speculations and rumor, most of which don't pan out. Nevertheless, their has been some signing that have been considered note worthy to members of this site. Most of them seem to involve teams tendering offers to RFA that many assumed would not be playing for their current teams next year. This is especially true of us tendering offers to Marshal and a number of other disgruntled Broncos. The question is, why?

I believe the reason is what we've talk about a lot over the past several months. The uncertainty over the future collective bargaining agree that has a "doomsday" clause that was supposed to deter this from happening. I expect most of the contracts to be one year deals because they have no idea of what is going to be happening at the end of this season. Therefore, I'm pretty much giving all of the leagues GMs and coaches a free pass this year unless they sign someone at a ridiculously high amount and/or shouldn't be in the league.
