Three sources familiar with the situation tell Yahoo's Jason Cole that Dez Bryant's behavior in college was "consistently irresponsible."
"I wouldn’t draft that kid unless I had someone to wake him up in the morning to get to meetings, someone to wake him up for practice and someone to wake him up for games," one source said. Another source said Bryant was late to meetings, and even games. Yet another characterized Bryant as "just goofy." It's possible that teams are spreading bad info about Bryant in hopes of spurring a draft-day slide. We still don't see him lasting until the 12th pick.

heres the full article from yahoo:

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant is emerging as the favorite for the most dubious title in the NFL Draft.

Biggest risk.

Three sources with direct knowledge of Bryant from his days in college, where he missed the final 10 games last season because of lying to NCAA investigators, said Bryant’s antics were “consistently irresponsible.”

Bryant is expected to be a first-round pick in April. Some draftniks have predicted that he will go in the top 10, although the consensus appears to be the top 15. Whoever takes him does so at their own peril.

“I wouldn’t draft that kid unless I had someone to wake him up in the morning to get to meetings, someone to wake him up for practice and someone to wake him up for games,” one source said.

A second source said Bryant’s reputation was earned because he was consistently late to team activities. That included showing up late for games.

“We’re not just talking about being a little late for warmups, but like being late for the actual game,” a source said with a chuckle. “When you start to hear some of the stories of there, you go, ‘He did what?’ ”

Bryant recently defended himself against questions about his past by claiming he is a “great person” in an interview with NFL Network. While that may be a stretch, his episodes of irresponsible behavior aren’t considered malicious.

“Dez isn’t evil, he’s not trying to hurt anybody. He’s just goofy,” another source said. “But it does make you think, ‘If he’s like this in college, what’s it going to be like when he gets paid?’ ”

The NCAA investigation of Bryant initially revolved around illicit benefits Bryant received while in college. Among the items the NCAA examined were cell phones Bryant had for himself and his girlfriend that were being paid for by another party, although Bryant claimed he paid cash to the other person.

The investigation eventually led to a 10-game ban by Oklahoma State when Bryant lied to NCAA investigators about his interactions with former NFL star and current NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders.

Its ok, Denver should think of Oline and Dline first anyway. We dont need Brandon Marshall 2.0 here.

That's exactly what I thought. Why would we draft this guy when we could just keep Brandon Marshall? At least we KNOW what his problems are. It scares me with so many mocks having us take him.

I've been consistent on the 'Just Say No' to Dez Bryant!!

I doubt we take him if any of this is true. Josh likes high character guys and theres a couple of major red flags in here. Pass. Miami can have him.

Edited for accuracy.

We have so many other areas of concern, so WR does not rank there at all. Especially a flake.

Hey maybe mike would like him.

Somebody is spreading rumors to drop his draft stock. I call bullshit on this.

So true - I don't see McDaniels drafting Bryant if there are character issues. McDaniels said the most valuable part of the combine was a chance to interview the prospects 1 to 1 with no other teams in the room. I'm sure that was in part a character check on who they want to draft.

INDIANAPOLIS — With his interviews and physicals complete, Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant sought permission from NFL Scouting Combine officials and left the event Sunday morning, according to NFL.com’s Gil Brandt.

Bryant said Friday that a hamstring injury would prevent him from working out until his pro day March 10. Receivers took part in on-field combine workouts Sunday.

Bryant is widely considered to be the top wide receiver in this year’s draft class, although he sat out most of the 2009 season after being suspended for lying to NCAA investigators about his relationship with NFL Network analyst and former NFL star Deion Sanders.

Several other players who aren’t participating in drills — such as Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen and Minnesota WR Eric Decker — stayed through Sunday and watched the drills from the sideline.

1)I'm unsure on what to think of these reports, and I agree with the trying to drop his draft stock statement.

2)I would still love to draft the guy, but not at skipping on someone for the dline/oline.

3)Character players are nice and all, but at some point here Denver's going to have to start bringing in some talent. We have high character players all over our oline/dline, and both lines suck, with the exception of a couple players.

You're right we don't need Brandon Marshall 2.0 . We need Brandon Marshall 1.0 . I don't think Bmarsh is going anywhere and I couldn't be happier.

Love how one artical calling a kid weak means he is bad but when stuff comes out about the Broncos its the stupid media not knowing what they are talking about. Lazy can be changed, hell he just needs to talk to Tony Robins or something.

Lets keep Brandon and work on imrpving other areas of the team and not add to our needs.

No one gives a damn about interview skills and how they relate to the player. If that was the case, Andre Johnson would NEVER have been drafted.

For me, Bryant hasn't indicated behavioral problems and that's not my main reason for not drafting him. I just want the BRONCOS to go the lineman route , whether offense or defense and preferrably offense even a proven run stopping LB would be an exception then again none of these guys have proven anything at the NFL level!! It seems all young WOs have some behavioral issue until proven otherwise and Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson are exceptions but the BRONCOS have bigger issues to take that gamble on Bryant this year!!

I'll agree with the lines needing help, but I have a hard time drafting based solely on need. If Marshall is gone, we'll "need" a top WR, but wont HAVE to draft one early. But look at it this way. If our top needs are interior OL, DL and WR...The only position of those three with a solid top 10 prospect is WR. Regardless of need...if we drafted Dan Williams or Iupati over Bryant...I'd be highly pissed.

Which is the only reason why i put him as high as i do in mock discussions.
This is all just "combine politics".
Teams trying to make a guy look bad, when he really doesnt have any true issues.
