Chargers CB Cromartie could be traded
By Mark J. Miller

San Diego Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie(notes) may not be with the team when things get started up for next season, according to ESPN.

It's being reported that the team is "exploring possible trade scenarios" that would send Cromartie packing in exchange for a running back.

One of the scenarios that was rumored to be happening was Cromartie being sent to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for running back Tashard Choice(notes) but it appears that Dallas isn't interested in that at this point. ESPN suggests that the Green Bay Packers could use a cornerback and would likely use a draft pick to trade rather than a player.

Cromartie had three interceptions and 33 tackles last season for the Chargers, the only team he's played for since being drafted 19th overall in the 2006 draft. Moving elsewhere may also help Cromartie find new friends to have children with as well. He currently has seven spread over five states and has had a number of paternity suits filed against him in recent years.

Wow...that's harsh!

Cromartie is a fairly decent player. I don't know if I believe this rumor but you never know.

By the sounds of it, LT may definately be gone.

He's not that good. He had that one good year and since then, he's been abysmal. Check out the thread in the Smack Forum of his play vs. the Jets, it shows a lot of his deficiencies.

Isn't that just trading one old guy on old legs for another?

More likely Baltimore for McGahee

Why don't they just simply move up in the draft?, seems like a waste to trade away such a fine upstanding father...errr, I mean player.

I could see that.....Ravens need help at CB, it's gotta be one of their weakest positions. Foxworth is a starter.

To clear Jordan I would do it, a CB holds higher value. He could be flipped easier for a draft pick.

Not going to happen. Jordan is an old RB with no legs left and Cro is a young CB that even though he's abysmal would be an upgrade on some teams. I agree with you on the getting rid of Jordan, though I don't think anyone would give anything up for him. He's just not that good anymore. People have the choice between LT and Jordan, yea, I'd take LT in a heartbeat if given the choice.

It was more of a sarcastic post of a trade, Cro is young and overrates, so you know the Redskins will try to trade for him. I just hate Jordan and made a bogus trade.

and absolutely picked-on, all day, in the playoffs.

Then again....so was Cro. I just like it better when it's a Charger player that they were crowning better than Champ just a short season ago....

I didn't like seeing Foxy go because he seems to be a good guy, but his play isn't on level with a starting CB in this league. Same thing with Paymah, he got abused in Minn.

Yup. He sucks at coverage, but he's a big fast corner who has highlight reel ability.

He's pretty much proof that it's better to have a cover corner than a guy who can get an occasional pick six.

Cromartie loses grievance
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 17, 2010 5:52 PM ET

Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie lost a grievance Wednesday filed by his former agent Jason Fletcher, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

NFL arbitrator Roger Kaplan ruled that Cromartie must pay Fletcher at least $32,000 in back fees.

The 2007 Pro Bowler is currently the subject of trade rumors despite a decent 2009 campaign.

Cromartie claimed in the grievance it was a financial hardship to pay the overdue fees, hinting at deeper monetary problems. Cromartie has seven children spread across five states and was named in at least five paternity suits, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

His current agent, Gary Wichard, said back in July all of the suits have been addressed. "It's all part of the simplification process," Wichard said. "Everyone will be taken care of."

I posted about this in my blog as well... I have high hopes for this kind of scenario but you never know what is going to happen in free agency and trades when ego's and $$ gets involved!? :-)
