L.A. stadium developers still eying a team for 2011
Local developers who plan to build an NFL stadium in the City of Industry, near Los Angeles, believe they’re close to having a team.
“I strongly believe an NFL franchise will play in Los Angeles for the 2011 season,” Majestic Realty vice president John Semcken told the Boston Globe. “I’ve been working on this for 14 years, and it’s been a long road. I know we’re very, very close.”
The teams targeted by Majestic include the Bills, Vikings, Rams, Jaguars, 49ers, Raiders, and Chargers. Los Angeles hasn’t had an NFL team since 1994, after the Rams and Raiders both moved out of the area.
Rams ownership recently agreed with Shahid Khan on a deal to sell the team. Khan intends to keep the team in St. Louis, but he still needs to be approved by NFL ownership.
The Vikings have been looking for a new alternative, and the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that there might be an interesting way for the team to improve revenue streams.

If the Broncos moved outside Denver. Would you still support them? If not would you support anyone else or just give the NFL up? This isn't just aimed at you Carol. Anybody. I'm just curious what the reaction would be. I imagine or hope that there would be uproar and that it never would happen but what if it did?

I don't even live in Colorado and it would impact my support of the team. They are the DENVER Broncos, after all.
Moving a team out of a city that doesn't support the team, like the Jags, is one thing, but moving a team out of a city with a great NFL tradition, like Denver, is something else.
I have a lot of respect for the Bills owner who won't move the team even though the community can't really support the team well enough to make it competitive. Jerks like Al Davis that try to extort more money out of a city are just greedy ********. God forbid the Broncos ownership ever start down that road.

Obviously, I would be crushed, but I would still support them, until - if/when Denver got another team. However, with it taking 75% approval of the NFL owners, and with the support the Broncos have had since day 1, I do not think that the Broncos would ever move from Denver.

I agree with what you say but say it did happen what would you do? It's probably one of those scenerios that you wouldn't know until it happened but what would your instinct tell you at the moment?
To further complicate things say at the same time that the Falcons moved to Denver would they get support from the ex Broncos fans?

I think that would be a fair assessment. Could you still support a new team in Denver if it was a team from another city like the Falcons though? I think you are right about never moving as well. But it is possible for other teams as proved in the past and looks like in the future so I just wondered what people would do.

It depends. If it were the Raiders moving to Denver, absolutely not. **** the Raiders. Other than that and other divisional rivals, it depends.

Not sure - I just hope that I would never have to face that.

Hmm, since San Diego hasn't been able to build a new stadium for like 20 years...moving them to LA is intriguing. However, I can see the Rams/Jags as front runners due to lower fan interest. The rumors in St. Louis have been around for over a year, owners want out.

I think there were two or three games last year where the Chargers were pushing to sell remaining tickets to avoid a black out. Not sure how really good their fanbase is.

It isn't as solid as Denver's, SoCal has many relocated fans(very similar to South Florida). Many residents in the San Diego area are from somewhere else and don't really care about the Chargers. They have their loyal fan base as well, but by and large are more fair-weathered as a whole.

I have absolutely ZERO loyalty to the City of Denver. I've never even set foot into the state of Colorado. My allegiance to the team wouldn't change a bit if they moved. I would, however, be very disappointed if they changed names, colors, mascot, etc like the Oilers did when they moved to Tennessee, or the Browns when they moved to Baltimore (even though in that case, the city of Cleveland owned the naming rights, not the owner). I can see something like that happening in Denver if the Broncos ever moved. The City forcing the team name to change.
If that happened, I'd probably still be a "fan" of the new team provided they had cool uniforms and didn't have a gay-assed new mascot. If the new team name was gay or they included a queer teal color into their uniforms (no team looks "mean" wearing teal - trust me, I live in Jags/Dolphins country), I'd probably find a new team. ;)

What if the Broncos switched to teal? Would you still cheer loudly or clap silently? Would you support gay marriage? OK that last question was over the line. But would you?

The Bay area is not big enough to support 2 NFL teams. Move the Raiders. If not to LA, move them somewhere else. Portland (OR), San Antonio and Oklahoma City are big cities that used to have pro teams in now defunct rival leagues, but have never had NFL teams.

Yes, the Chargers fan base really isn't that good for a team that for the last few years have been in the playoffs. You'd think moving the team for them might actually be a good thing.
About the Chargers; When you have a coach that gets "out-coached" in the playoffs time and time again, it's kind of hard for the fair weather fans to keep interest. Not to mention a RB who gives up on his team at the first sign of trouble.

Sure, I support gay marriage because I think gays shouldn't be legally exempt from experiencing all the misery that us heterosexuals have to deal with...;) It doesn't mean that teal is a good color for a contact sports team anymore than pink is (or that gay-assed powder blue color :D).
The Broncos wouldn't change colors to teal anymore than Al Davis will ever admit he's wrong so I'm not worried about it. If they did I'd still cheer loudly, just not quite as loudly...

Dude the Sparklers make the playoffs almost every year now and the media is all over their jock non-stop and they still can't sell out and keep their games from being blacked out consistently.
I think it'd be an easy choice for the Sparklers management to move to a bigger market like LA. They'd still keep all their fair weather SD fans, pick up new fair weather LA fans and they wouldn't even have to realign the divisions.
Could you imagine the Bills moving to LA and still being in the AFC East? Or the Jags moving to LA in the AFC South? They'd probably have to re-align the divisions again like they did when they brought the Texans in.
