View Full Version : Al Wilson?

What is going on with Al Wilson? What is the latest? Has anyone signed him? Boss, Al, and DJ would make for a formidable LB core.

Doc says Al is ready to play and we all know Al always wants to play.

I don't know much about Niko, but I don't think he'll outplay Al. Plus, "Niko" just doesn't sound scary to opposing RBs.

I didn't think you had to introduce yourself before asking it would be ok to tackle them. :D

I'm not drinking the Niko Kool-Aid yet. Thats why I think we draft a MLB in Round 1 or 2.

Difference here is Al Wilson is ready to play and I think he's still got 2-3 good seasons in him. Especially taking a whole year off, he and his body must be revamped.

...izKING!!!!

I did a quick Google earch and didn't find anything recent. It's a long off-season and you never know what might happen or who might pick him up. But as I've stated, I will support Al wherever he goes, NFL or not.

Nobody want's to gamble with someone's life. If he was healthy and worth asking back we would. If Shanny proves anything he'll give people "second chances" (Maurice, 16 different DT's, etc.)

No team is willing to take a chance on him. Its too risky. He went to Detroit for a meeting, but was never offered a contract. They obviously didn't feel he was healthy enough.

Nobody likes Al Wilson more than I do. Nobody. It's just not possible. He led my Vols to a Natl Title and played for my favorite pro team as well. Given that...listen when I say this. Al is done. It's over. At this point Niko is the more competent player and less likely to die making a tackle. Let it go.

There are some folks on here that must make sure that you know your opinion is wrong or that you are obviously hoping for the wrong thing and don't know near as much as them. Not sure why people are so forceful about pointing out their disagreement to an idea that someone on the internet had.

Anyway, I would like to see Al Wilson come back but unfortunetly, since he is not getting much media buzz I am betting there is some sort of flag that is keeping him from latching on anywhere. He may be good to go though so who knows what happens.

One thing is sure though, no one knows if he is or isn't washed up yet like some of the posters would have you believe.

Al was a great leader on the field and in the locker room.

His play slipped over the past few years and while a great hitter he lacked in the wrap them up and tackle department. Could have been all the broken fingers and hands, but the facts are not including his neck issues he is not the MLB he was 4 years ago..

I wish him well and hope IF he really wants to still play he finds a home.

I'd rather see him retire and live to play with his grand kids..

How do you figure? The doctor, the best neck specialist in all of sports medicine said he is good to go. In fact, Al played the following week or 2nd week after despite the injury, (he didn't die, you're just being dramatic now) in hopes of helping the team make the playoffs. Talk about heart and courage huh?

I bet you Al Wilson is a better MLB right now that Niko, Guaranteed! I'll bet you 1000 freak bucks... no wait, the Freak is no more cause of a lousy moderator, name withheld.

There's always those who think they are smarter than god and wants others to know the Wizzes they think they are.

And there's also a couple here I had a disagreement with, mainly cause I am new here(or at least they think I am) and they feel threatened that I am invading into their board with my strong opinions. And that circle high-5ing that I mentioned before. You mess with 1 Freak, you mess with all of them I suppose.

Al did wear down some thru the years but Al's play and tackle totals went down mainly due to the lack of superior DTs occupying the opposing team's guards and centers from getting into the 2nd level putting a hand on AL. No LB no matter how good they are if they have to constantly fight off 300lb guards in their face.

And yes, Al did tend to go for the highlight reel hits instead of just wrapping and taking the guy down, it's obvious on TV. There is nothing wrong with his hands and fingers where he couldn't make a tackle and or he wouldn't be on the field. I never saw anything about a constant hand and finger injury in any long stretches in any of those past seasons.

There are 32 teams in the league many of which would love to have a seasoned, proven leader at the LB position.... and Al isn't in anyone's training camp.

Get over it and move on, time catches up to us all and it caught up to Al.

He's done, how can that be so difficult to comprehend?

I know this is about Al Wilson but I kind of feel the same way about Ben Hamilton. Concussions typically come easier as time goes on. And since he missed most of last year because of this, it doesnt look good. I hate to see guys expose themselves to endangering their future well-being. Everyone who plays football exposes themselves risk, but its a matter of degree we're talking about.

Wrong? I was only inquiring about Al's current status and if healthy would be our best option at MLB. No one provided anything other than the guy's washed up, despite the neck specialist clearing him to play. But someone did provide a rumor so it probably more than true since no one is knocking down Al's door.

I f healthy to play, Al will be the best MLB option we have.

Who'd have known the year after Peyton leaves, freakin' T Martin would lead the Vols to that title. You've also got to thank Clint Stoerner.

Which was BS since he won his bowl games...just had issues w/ Florida. He had em on 2 occasions, but the RBs fumbled away a 20sumthin point lead in 1 of em. he gets some blame...but hardly all of it.

Well, injured Al could not have done crap. Compare our LB before and after he was cut. That is all I am saying.

And I know DJ was second in the league in tackles or whatever. Now imagine if he knew how to pick the right gap or if he had a brain.

Well, that's the thing: He's gonna play somewhere, and quite possibly start. He's not that old, if he really is healthy (and I don't think he's gotten the docs to rush him back; he don't need the green.... ) And, obviously, his departure from Denver created a gap his return would just as obviously fill. If nothing else it's worth bringing him to camp.

"Al would not come back just to collect a paycheck," said Peter Schaffer, Wilson's agent. "He would only come back if he found a situation that meets his criteria, which begins with helping a team win the Super Bowl. What's intriguing about the Cleveland Browns is all the moves they have made to a 10-6 to date"

Do the Broncos meet his criteria?
