Shields, Gonzalez, Roaf, Hall selected to All-Decade team
Former Chiefs guard Will Shields, tight end Tony Gonzalez and offensive tackle Willie Roaf's paths to the Pro Football Hall of Fame received boosts when they were selected to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
Shields, an 12-time Pro Bowler with the Chiefs during his career from 1993-2006, was one of four guards chosen for the team.
Gonzalez, the NFL's all-time leading receiver for tight ends now with Atlanta, was one of two tight ends, along with Antonio Gates of the San Diego Chargers. Gonzalez was a 10-time Pro Bowler with the Chiefs during 1999-2008.
Roaf, who spent 2002-05 with the Chiefs after a stellar career with the New Orleans Saints, joined Shields as key members of one of the NFL's best offensive lines of the decade.
Dante Hall, who spent 2000-06 with the Chiefs, was selected for two Pro Bowls. He returned 11 kicks _six kickoffs and five punts for touchdowns in his career _ and was named to the team as both a kickoff and punt returner.
The Chiefs' four selections to the 53-man squad tied for the most of any team.
Another player with Chiefs ties, cornerback Ty Law, who spent 2006-07 with Kansas City, also was selected for the team based on his career with the New England Patriots.
And former Pittsburg State punter Brian Moorman of the Buffalo Bills was one of two punters selected, joining Oakland's Shane Lechler.
The two head coaches were Bill Belichick of the Patriots and Tony Dungy of the Colts.
Here’s the NFL’s Team of the Decade for the 2000s.
