Gary Zimmerman has said from the day he was elected to the Pro Football
Hall of Fame that he considered himself a Broncos' Hall of Famer.
If there were any lingering questions about Zimmerman's allegiance, they
have been answered. He has selected Broncos owner Pat Bowlen to present
him Aug. 2 at the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
It will be Bowlen's first time as a presenter. John Elway, the Broncos' only
other Hall of Famer, chose his daughter Jessica to present him in 2004.
Zimmerman said Bowlen was his first and only choice.
"I think the world of him," said Zimmerman, who joined the Broncos in a
trade from the Minnesota Vikings in 1993. He retired after the Broncos' first
of two Super Bowl victories.
"Mr. Bowlen revived my career," Zimmerman said.
Bowlen said he was humbled by Zimmerman's decision.
"Gary meant so much to our team, and this will be a special moment,"
Bowlen said. "The Hall of Fame ceremony is always something special to me,
but clearly this one will be especially important."
