A 76-year-old woman who disappeared in the Oregon wilderness nearly two weeks ago has been found alive, officials said Thursday.

Doris Anderson of Sandy had a hip injury and was suffering from dehydration when authorities discovered her in the Wallowa Mountains on Thursday afternoon but was conscious and alert, said Jerry Boyd, a Baker County 911 dispatch center director.

A U.S. Forest Service helicopter crew was en route to the area where Anderson was so they could transport her to a medical facility, Boyd said in a press release.

George Winn, the CEO of St. Elizabeth Health Services in Baker City, said Anderson was in critical, but stable condition and was being admitted to the intensive care unit.

Family members had nearly given up hope and had planned to hold a memorial service this weekend for Anderson, who disappeared Aug. 24, Portland NBC affiliate KGW reported.

Anderson got lost in the rugged terrain when she and her husband, Harold, were on a bowhunting expedition. According to Harold Anderson, the couple's Chevy Tahoe, which was hauling a utility trailer, got stuck on a dirt road, and Harold Anderson broke his wrist while unloading an all-terrain vehicle from the trailer.

The two walked about four miles to try to get to the main U.S. Forest Service road, he said, but became fatigued. Doris Anderson turned around to head back to the Tahoe, her husband said. Harold Anderson was rescued Saturday when he reached the main road and was spotted by a group of hunters. The hunters drove him back to the Tahoe, but they did not see his wife, the Baker City (Ore.) Herald reported.

The official search for Doris Anderson ended Aug. 31. Scent-tracking dogs found no trace of her, and no one reported seeing the woman, who was out in nighttime temperatures that went as low as freezing.

Harold Anderson, 74, was reportedly disoriented when he was found. He and his two daughters went to Boise, Idaho, where Doris was expected to be hospitalized, after hearing she had been spotted.

Great Story!:D
