ROGERS TRADE OFF

The trade between the Lions and the Bengals for defensive tackle Shaun Rogers is apparently off.

According to Mike O'Hara of the Detroit News, the deal was not consummated and the Lions will be looking to send Rogers elsewhere. The two teams had agreed that Rogers would head to the Bengals for a third-round and a fifth-round pick.

In our view, that's not bad news for the Bengals. Maybe it means that someone within the organization raised an alarm about the 2007 allegations against Rogers regarding his conduct in a strip club. Though he wasn't charged, is that really the kind of guy that the team should be signing giving its recent history of struggles with off-field issues?

ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions' trade of nose tackle Shaun Rogers to the Cincinnati Bengals was unraveling Friday evening, hours after an announcement that the teams had agreed on a deal.

Originally, the Lions confirmed reports that Rogers was traded to the Bengals in exchange for Cincinnati's third- and fifth-round picks in the April draft.

The Bengals' official Web site posted details of the trade under the headline "Big Deal for Big Man," calling it "one of their biggest deals in history."

However, league sources said later Friday that the trade was not consummated, and that the Lions would be looking to trade Rogers to another team.

There was no comment from Lions officials.

Earlier in the day, after the trade had been announced by the Lions, reporters were told that coach Rod Marinelli and president Matt Millen would not be available for comment.

IMO, Dewayne Robertson is a better fit with us. Between him and Marcus Thomas, we'd have two up and coming stars at DT.

ROGERS TO BROWNS A DONE DEAL

According to Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com, who as we understand it is very well plugged in as to the goings on in Motown, the Lions have finalized a trade of defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to the Browns.

In return, the Lions reportedly will get cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round draft choice.

Carpenter says that the league office rejected a trade that would have sent Rogers to the Bengals for a third-round and a fifth-round pick.

Come draft day Cleveland fans will be pretty bored. I guess this eliminates Foxy to Detroit... Possibly.

My God, If Browns have both Rogers and Williams that is going to be a hell of a defensive line.

How in the HELL, does the Browns end up with two premier DT's over our beloved Broncos, who have major D-line issues and are looking to upgrade that position???

Not to mention, these moves were done in a single friggin day.

For a team that has major issues at DT, I'm very disappointed in them today

Well if they are going to the Browns, that means they should be Broncos in a another year or two.

Then we'll sign them as castoffs, and then trade the one that ends up being worth a shit to the Raiders.

Well...the Browns also have no day 1 draft picks. They traded away the only decent CB they had and Rogers' attitude/dedication is still a question mark. Yes...on paper, they got 2 big studs for their DLine, but look deeper. They risked a decent amount as well.

It's a new day...they are gonna be VERY dangerous. If they can land a CB and 1 more WR, they can challenge for the whole AFC. They were a few defensive playesr away from winning their division last year. Now a lot will hinge on Anderson's continued growth...but it doesn't hurt to have Quinny waiting in the wings. We better hurry up and get good again so we can keep em out of the SB some more.

Phil Savage is a very good GM, people. The Browns are going to be around for a while.
