Walker to Washington?
Believe the reports that the Redskins are going to try to pry receiver Chad Johnson from Cincinnati. Johnson has been vocal about his desire to be dealt but Bengals coach Marvin Lewis recently said the Pro Bowl player will not be traded.
If Johnson isn't traded, the Redskins could turn their attention to Javon Walker, who, like Johnson, wants to be traded. Yet, unlike Cincinnati, Denver wants to accommodate Walker with a trade.
Washington and Denver have been willing trading partners in the past and could easily make a deal. If not Walker, Washington could pursue Oakland's Jerry Porter.
Should Taylor be dancing?
Some eyebrows have been raised around the league about the announcement last week that Miami defensive end Jason Taylor will compete in the reality show, "Dancing with the Stars." Retired players Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith competed in the past, but Taylor will be the first active NFL player to participate.
The Dolphins are considering trading Taylor, and some teams may not be thrilled to have a high-priced player compete in the show. Injury possibilities aside, some believe Taylor will be distracted by the show, which tapes between March and May. While the show will occur during the offseason, every NFL team starts its offseason conditioning program in early April.
Denver is expected to be among the teams possibly pursuing Taylor.
Around the league. Expect the agents of Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall and defensive end Elvis Dumervil to ask the team for new contracts after the 2008 season if their clients continue to ascend in their third season. Denver cornerback Champ Bailey also is a candidate for a new contract next year. . . . Many teams are cooling on University of Miami safety Kenny Phillips, and he could have a tough time getting drafted in the first round. Word is the Broncos aren't high on Phillips and may pursue a safety through free agency. . . . Some in the league expect the Raiders to part ways with inconsistent kicker Sebastian Janikowski this offseason. . . . If Broncos kicker Jason Elam enters free agency, expect Atlanta to make a push for Elam, who has family in Georgia. . . . Speaking of the Falcons, word is they could be interested in swapping a seventh-round draft pick for Denver running back Mike Bell. Still, the Falcons are thinking big. They love Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.

Typical Williamson handiwork trying to see if something will stick.

Javon Walker should be condensed into one thread.
