View Full Version : What picks are we going to get?

I think that we have a multitude of players that the team may choose to 1) franchise and either keep or trade or 2) pick as restricted free agents where we can tender and then choose whether to match the offer or receive picks for them. We have a lot of talent that we might try to get value for. Can Bowlen afford it?

If we sign Marshall (yes, a long long shot), Orten, Dumervil, Kuper, and/or Sheff it is doubtful there will be enough money. However, if we take draft picks, they have to be signed as well. We did not spend $30 million of this year's cap as it was. Do we have the money and if we don't what do you propose that the team will do?

I see a multitude of possibilities and it will be a long preseason.

Dump Marshall, he doesnt want to be here. His stock is high so trade his value. Probaby can get a at least a 5th for Sheff. Hillis i would like to keep but seeing how we didnt use him much he may just get cut. Doom is must resign as he is the best LB we have. Probably good at this point to consider trading Champ for a 2nd and 3rd if possible and throwing Smith in his spot. Rebuild through the draft and see what the free agent market brings.

Even though we need OL and DL help, I think we almost have to go QB or WR with our first round pick this year. Our offense is atrocious and Marshall won't be back. Everyone already knows how I feel about neckbeard.

Yeah because "Neckbeard" let jamal charles rush for almost 300 yards right?

No, because neckbeard threw 3 INTs, two returned for TDs and until that point, we were still in the game no matter how many friggin yards Charles racked up. You can cuddle KO all you want, but after this season, he won't start for another NFL franchise outside possibly the Broncos. The dude is trash.

Let's see. Our first round pick from Chicago will be top ten. The rest of our picks will be around the twentieth pick in that round.

I believe Marshall is gone. We should be able to get a first round pick and change for him. Sheff is gone and we probably won't get a first day pick for him but I think a fifth is reasonable with the possibility of something a little higher.

Who else will we trade for picks or players and what do you think we will get?

Hopefully, McKid has gained a respect for the value of draft picks that he did not have last year so we don't trade them all away.

14th. We dropped 4 spots from the Bears between rounds. 7-9 to 8-8 isn't a very big jump in the overall scheme of things.

From what i read on ESPN our pick is not top 10 because the Bears finished 7-9.

11th is correct. Its sealed.

And we will have the 13th selection in the second round.

Right now - (and I've calculated this for everyone in the other thread) it is a tie with the Jaguars.

Jaguars Opponents have 127 wins
Bears Opponents have 127 wins

There may be some confusion because the Jets are still playing, which technically means the Jags opponents have 126 wins.. but once that game goes final, they will have 127 wins.

Thus, you use tiebreakers.. only tiebreakers are for Division teams (ordered in opposite order you finished in division... if you have the 3rd and 4th place teams in a division tied after SOS, then 4th place teams is placed above, 3rd place team next.)

That is not the case here.

There is a conference tie breaker that allows usage of the conference record. That is not applicable.. Jags and Bears play in different conferences.

If ties cannot be settled by those tiebreakers, league will conduct a coin flip usually at or a little before the annual meetings in March.

Jags and Bears are going to almost certainly be in a coin flip, unless I made a mistake, but my work is posted if anyone can find one! ;) I couldn't and I triple checked. 127 to 127 is the final tally after the Jets game. That means tie and coin flip.

Thanks though it doesn't mean a thing... cuz I pretty much figure we'll lose the coin flip too...lol  so it will just end up 11 .. at a later date lol. But, it would be nice to be in front of Jacksonville... they could very easily take a guy we'd be targeting.

Things are pretty much a mess right now and I anticipate that McDaniels and staff will start tomorrow morning to plan 2010.

The talented players we have, that have trade value, that don't seem to match the team are IMO Sheffler, and D.J. Williams. Marshall seems to have exited himself out the door, so that's three trade possibilities. Champ has a big bonus coming up, so either he renegotiates or gets traded. Let's say he gets traded.

So that means we say goodbye to Sheffler, Marshall, D.J. Williams and Bailey among our "star players". Others will get cut undoubtedly.

We could work trades with other teams for players, so draft picks isn't the only option. But let's just talk draft picks. In exchange for Marshall, Sheffler, Williams and Bailey, I think we get a first, two thirds and a fourth. I'm counting Bailey as a third, and maybe we get a second, but he's getting older and slower.

I'm not hugely disappointed in Orton, although I'm not hugely excited either. I think he's servicable for another year or two and I'd like to see what he can do with a better OL.

I don't watch much college ball, so I can't talk specific players. The positions I think we should target in order of importance (whether that's via trade, free agency or draft) are ILB, DE, OC, RB, OG, TE, WR.

Even without Marshall and with Stokley getting older, I think our existing WR are serviceable. I'm counting on Baker being a force at NT, or at least the combo of Fields/Thomas being OK again. Orton goes another year, Brandstater becomes #2 and we sign a total project to be QB #3.

We need stronger ILB play to cut down the run game against us, we need stronger OL play to open holes and not get our backs crushed in the backfield. We need a new RB because Jordan isn't cutting it, and Hillis isn't being given the opportunity to cut it (much anyways), and hasn't cut it when he was given a chance.

Rambling post, but we need a LOT of improvement during off season, and it needs to start at ILB, DL and OL in my opinion.

Go Broncos!

Franchise tag Marshall, and then force the kool-aid down his throat (like that evil shaman guy made Indiana Jones drink the blood out of that skull in the Temple Of Doom).

i see us trading kuper to the redskins or buffalo for a 4th rd pick, i see sehffler traded to a team like the New york giants for a 4th rd pick, and i see marshall traded for a 1st or thrid rd pick if its baltimore/Tampa.....2nd and 3rd rd pick if its miami/St louis/San fran

in the end i see us with 4 extra picks in the upcoming draft......

If we really can only get a fourth round pick for Kuper, I would keep him.

Do you mean a first [U]and[U] third pick for Marshall? Surely, we could get more than just a third round pick.

Assuming that we could get those 4 extra picks (all 4th round or above) when coupled with our own picks, will that and free agency be enough to plug all the holes in the dike and the replacement of those three players?

I'd like to see us keep Kuper, regardless, and get another guard on the other side to match his talent. Given that Harris should be back next year, LG is our troubled spot on the oline, although I'm doubting that Casey has another year in him. But if it was up to me, we'd be hanging on to Kupes.

i meant first and third......lol

as for kuper i just dont think he fits what MCd wants and i belive a 4th is sound compensation....he never was really that great of a all round OL and he doesnt fit a power scheme at all.....

and if we get these 4 extra picks i do belivbe it will be enough and i would draft the following

1. WR Dez Bryant
1(from Baltimore for Bmarsh) CB Donovan Warren
2. OL Matt Tennant
3. DE Arthur Jones
3(from baltimore for Bmarsh) DL Jay ross
4. RB Dexter Mccluster
4.(from Giants for sheffler) G Thomas Austin
4.(from Bills for Kuper) ILB Micah Johnson
6. OT Marlon Winn
7. WR Chris Carter

to me that fills every need we have

WR/RDE/C/G/CB/ILB depth/return and third down specialist/DL Depth/Guard Depth
