» NFL ready to alter calendar

May 20, 2013 - 1:58 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
The NFL and NFL Players Association are on the verge of pushing back the draft to May and moving up the start of the league year to before the Indianapolis scouting combine, according to league and union sources.

As for the draft, the NFLPA is close to signing off on allowing the NFL to move the draft to May from April for at least the next three years, according to sources. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell can set the date of the draft without the NFLPA's approval, although he would prefer to have the union's blessing to maintain league harmony.

The start of the new league year is now expected to be moved to before the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis rather than after it, per league sources. The NFLPA wanted to give free agents a chance to find new teams sooner.

» Denver Broncos face big questions at start of NFL offseason practice

May 19, 2013 - 7:24 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
For all Peyton Manning has accomplished as an NFL quarterback, he has zero completions and zero touchdown passes in the 2013 regular season.

Montee Ball had all those carries and rushed for all those yards and touchdowns at Wisconsin. He has zip, zip and zip as an NFL running back.

Wes Welker compiled — get this — 672 catches in his previous six seasons with the New England Patriots. He has zero catches for the Broncos.

» Broncos, Rahim Moore 'over it'

May 19, 2013 - 1:37 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos have moved on, even if their fans haven't.

That includes Rahim Moore, the safety whose big blunder led to Denver's heart-wrenching loss in the playoffs four months ago.

From same article -

Miller said nobody in the locker room holds Moore any more accountable for the playoff loss than they do themselves.

"Rahim made a few key tackles that day. He was all over the place. It was just a football folly," Miller said. "I don't blame Rahim. I blame me and Elvis: 70 yards to go, we know they're going to pass the ball. That's why they bring me and Elvis to close the game out and neither of us got to the quarterback. I took it hard."

» PFF- Von Miller has no weaknesses

May 16, 2013 - 2:23 PM - by BaileyTheBest
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...le-von-miller/

Weakness

None

The only category that Miller didn’t rank among the league’s Top 20 in terms of pressure rate this season was at getting unblocked pressure, and when you’re talking about Von Miller that’s hardly a surprise

Across his two seasons in the NFL Miller has recorded only 12 unblocked pressures, which is fewer than Aldon Smith (14) and Calvin Pace (13) recorded this season alone. When you dig further into Miller’s unblocked stats you find that he even makes the most of these rare occasions that he can get at the opposing pass rusher without anyone picking him up. Of those 12 unblocked pressures he has recorded, he failed to turn only one of those into a sack or hit of the opposing quarterback, further illustrating why you just can’t leave Miller unaccounted for in your blocking scheme. In his rookie season Miller converted his six unblocked pressures into five hits and one hurry, while this season he converted six into three hits and three sacks. Miller doesn’t get much of his pass rush for “free” but when he does, he makes you pay in full for not picking him up.

» PeyBack Foundation Announces $581,000 in Grants

May 16, 2013 - 1:24 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Quarterback Peyton Manning continued his offseason of giving back off the field with the announcement of more than half a million dollars in grants on Thursday.

The donations will be distributed to more than 90 youth-based community organizations in Colroado, Indiana, Tennessee and Louisiana in 2013.

“The mission and work of the PeyBack Foundation is something we are very passionate about,” said Manning, who is the foundation’s president. “We are pleased to add Colorado to our giving cycle and are proud of the positive impact that so many youth-based organizations in this state, as well as in Indiana, Tennessee and Louisiana, have on our communities.”

» Osweiler Taking Command in Year Two

May 16, 2013 - 1:17 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The first full offseason after a rookie campaign is an important one for any player.

For a quarterback tagged as the heir apparent behind Peyton Manning, it's all the more crucial.

That's why Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase has been so happy with what he's seen from Brock Osweiler entering his second season in the NFL.

“I can see him taking another step as far as his command of the offense -- him being able to communicate with guys as far as, ‘Hey, this is what I need from you here,’" Gase said. "You can see him kind of working that way already on the field. When you’re a young guy, there are a lot of things going on, and he’s eliminated, ‘Well, is this guy supposed to be lined up here? Is this guy motioning?’ He’s not doing that anymore. It’s quicker for him. If somebody screwed up this year, he can fix it, and I think he’s taken a big step this year so far in Phase Two (of the club's offseason conditioning program).”

» Shanahan returns to mile high

May 16, 2013 - 11:26 AM - by Chef Zambini
HOW WILL TYHE BRONCOS org. COMMEMORATE THE EVENT?
what will they do what SHOULD they do?
should they do anything?
I think a half time 'salute' would be appropriate
\ big screen video, sound bites from former players and coaches.
and it would be a grerat game to wear a retro uniform.

» NFL Radio mentioned Urlacher visiting Denver

May 14, 2013 - 2:33 PM - by Army Bronco
Does anyone have more information on Urlacher possibly visiting Denver? I heard his interview where he stated that money doesn't matter, only winning. I know its cliche. Woodson is visiting Denver on Weds. Any thoughts on either player coming to Denver??

Per Vic Lombardi's Twitter

@VicLombardi 8m Got a great scoop today. Broncos continue to make aggressive moves toward a Super Bowl, kicking the tires on Charles Woodson tomorrow.

@VicLombardi 7m Woodson expected to visit the Broncos soon, possibly this week.

@VicLombardi 6m I'm thinking they see Woodson in a dual role safety/corner.

No I can see this happening. I doubt he'll overtake Oswieler but he did grade out as 4th round pick by many including Denver. If Denver attempted to put him on the practice squad he would clear it because some other claim him.

» Orlando Franklin wants your help

May 13, 2013 - 8:36 PM - by Denver Native (Carol)
Tonight, Orlando was on with Vic on Xfinity Monday Live. Vic was showing the video where some of the Broncos went to a Rockies' game, and Manning set up a prank to have Orlando be the player to be interviewed, and Decker gave Orlando a shaving cream pie to the face, during the interview. Orlando wants to get back at both of them, and ask for people to send a prank to him on twitter @OFranklin74, which he could use against Manning/Decker. He said that he will pick out the best prank, and he will give the winner 4 tickets to the home game of their choice.
